I've gotten into both Futurama and the Simpsons (and The Amazing World of Gumball, which is, in many senses, an updated kid-friendly version of the Simpsons). Futurama has a much stronger setting for jokes, but the Simpsons has the stronger cast, imo.

My favorite part of that story, which I learned later, is one of the anecdotes on how the tradition potentially got started.
