I just got a promoted tweet for a book that tries to synthesize neo-reactionary thought and libertarianism.

this is my fault for tweeting that steve bannon is hot

I mean that is the logic that gave us "Check out this dapper fascist!!!!!"

*extremely Twitter Marxist voice* Gandhi had Problematic views and should be scorned as a liberal reactionary. On a completely different note, Stalin's so called "crimes" were justified by historical necessity

It is somehow always a Maoist who brings this up

They'd throw King under the bus too if he wasn't a social Democrat

they'd never throw King under the bus

solely because he has that quote about white moderates being the real enemy of progress that they must to write on a sacramental wafer and consume thrice daily

i don't think i've ever properly expressed how fucking hilarious it is that back when i thought ancap was not dumb, i read that medieval iceland had been propped up by ancaps as an example of what an ancap society looks like

and then, years later, i read some icelandic sagas, and it turns out that they were completely correct

i bet you've never seen this quote by king before, because you are educated stupid

that's a bit rude of me, and yeah, schools kinda water down king, but i've seen that one particular quote p much every time the topic comes up

I feel like I get hotter every year

I find myself utterly in love with winter now

I visited Centie this month just to see what it was like - there were a few unseasonably sunny days but the air wasn't dry and my hands didn't crack!
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
people always complain about winter but me, it's summer I hate, because my body runs hot and the sun being out all the time doesn't help with that

I feel like I have seasonal mood disorders but really I just get a disorder bat to the emotional kneecaps at random times.

  • Fuck’s sake I heard a song that was like… basically a sort of weird cover of Ain’t No Fun (If the Homies Can’t Have None) but made to be, y'know, less horribly misogynistic which seemed neat to me until I realized it was made by a pair of white dudes which makes the optics of it a *lot* uglier.

I mean, yes people keep posting that quote, but also white people who have never read King keep telling BLM to be more like King, so.

True, but that particular quote is deployed as much for "um actually the way to be a woke leftist is to just do a whole lot of macho posturing at each other" as it is to correct a dumb and one-sided view of MLK
  • My dreams exceed my real life
Because it really is mostly macho posturing

People hyperfocusing on the most hardcore and bada$$ ways to fight fascism while ignoring the many ways there are to do so, many of which are not as glorious or media-worthy as socking Dick Spencer in the kisser.

I think this is dangerously close to "actually both sides are bad"ism
  • My dreams exceed my real life
Well they aren't, because one side has Donald J. Trump, and the other does not

    Transient.
^^^, ^^ I dunno, I have no qualms saying Donald Trump's side is not as bad as the side that has, say, Pol Pot's.
  • edited 2017-01-26 18:41:16
I was not aware pol pot was active in 2017 american politics

    Transient.
No, but he is relevant to far leftist politics everywhere from the 70s and on for the foreseeable future.
  • image Wee yea erra chs hymmnos mea.
Pol Pot was also backed by several very right wing governments, so.
  • My dreams exceed my real life
In my experience even "um actually" types don't try to defend Pol Pot
  • Point, but that only lends support for the 'both extremes are bad' thing.
  • My dreams exceed my real life
Hot take: Stalin and Pol Pot do not prove Horseshoe Theory, but only because they were both far right, whatever noises they made to the contrary

    ayy l-fucking-mao
  • like that post is a joke, right? You're not serious.
  • My dreams exceed my real life
Donald Trump is significantly closer to Hitler than Bernie Sanders is to Pol Pot

Pol Pot and Bernie are on different continents, whereas Trump is at least in the same state, maybe the same county
  • Guys the dude who punched Richard Spencer is totally the same as Pol Pot

all political positions are bad and I am very smart
  • image Wee yea erra chs hymmnos mea.
hot take: people who want me dead are bad
  • I think there's a distinction between "both of these things have problems" and "these are samebad"
