There was a "fucking dumbfucks," etc. there, yes, I said I'd only ask once.
It need not be stated but will be stated that only one of you is being muted due to repeatedly and transparently being actively disingenuous, mean (seriously should not need elaboration but grouping someone in here with "fucking dumbfucks" is self-explanatory), using an actual abusive thing to describe what is not bloody that, and me just not having the patience by now.
So it's a hypothetical term for a thing that could have happened but didn't as projected by a bunch of overeager social scientists in the '60s. Figures. It does sound like an Orwell parody.
What on earth is BosWash? I think you're referring to the "Northeast corridor" where all the big cities are but nobody calls it... that.
It's also kind of reductive because even if it's not a multi-hour plane ride full of nothing away, it's still one long-ass bus ride...
I thought I've seen it called "the BosWash corridor" before (Boston to New York to Philadelphia to Baltimore to Washington)
Anyway, remember that Denver is hundreds of miles from any other major city
I am pretty sure that nobody outside of those discussing the concept Klinotaxis cited actually uses it today. It's certainly not what anyone on the East Coast calls it.
And yes, I'm well aware of how far Denver is from other things. That's why I made the bus comment. It's a far longer distance than it seems.

Also people on the actual East Coast don't seem to consider Ohio part of the East Coast, but people from anywhere west of here do

I've definitely heard people from less populous areas of the country refer to Ohio's urban areas as "the East Coast".
I don't quite consider it accurate--as Sredni said, we're more a Great Lakes state--but it's something I've encountered before.

I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
Then again I do kind of bristle against how up-its-own-ass the state of Colorado is, seemingly unaware/apathetic towards its paucity of things that are conducive to human life

You make it sound like the Australian desert or something

You know, I can definitely smell the difference between regular coffee and decaf.
What's weird is that decaf actually smells a little better to me...

I went to my aunt's house, played a bunch of Wolfenstein 3D there, hence showing how long ago this was, but her cats made me ill because allergies. No fun. But we stayed in a nice motel, can't complain about that.
I can't really even remember anything about Denver itself. Except that it seemed very...remote.

I never know how to feel about Grandma's generosity
I had a bunch of money on a Kroger gift card so I offered to pick up a few things when I go out tonight
And so she's like "here are some things I need" and...gave me cash, even though I insisted I'd pay for it myself
It's hard not to feel like a freeloader when anything resembling reciprocity for letting me live in her house is rebuffed from the start, you know?
From what I can tell, the BosWash phenomenon is not only real, but has expanded past Washington (you can take a train directly from Boston to Richmond or Newport News if you're so inclined). If you've ever seen one of those pictures of the Earth lit up at night, that bright spot running past the north end of the Chesapeake Bay is the BosWash corridor.
It really is just that no one calls it that (you're far more likely to hear "Northeast Corridor", which Amtrak also uses for the section of the old Pennsy it owns between DC and NY), and that there's enough green space between cities to be deceptive (West Virginia in particular is very, very dark in comparison).

I was hoping somebody would have a response to that to, I dunno, make me feel better somehow
I really do appreciate that Grandma lets me live in her house rent-free but I wish I was able to, you know, feel like I'm pulling my weight
But every time I suggest anything that would involve spending the slightest bit of money, even from a freakin' gift card, she refuses to accept it

that's what I do

I've sat in front of these very loud, middle aged women who are taking absolutely bollocks.
Part of me wants to throw my muffin at them to shut them up.

As Jane said:
I kind of consider it one of the Great Lakes states, or the "northeast Midwest," if that makes any sense.
I can't really even remember anything about Denver itself. Except that it seemed very...remote.
...holy crap, I think I understand your problem now
