@Odradek: I'm pretty sure it's OK to like Jethro Tull if you're a metalhead because Riffs, in the same way it's commonly accepted for bassists and certain kinds of drummers to like Rush because That Rhythm Section, but pretty much any prog band from that period is going to get you sceptical looks from some people. ELP are probably the most divisive, though, not for their early work (which most people agree fucking kills) so much as their late work (disco-prog) and their live shows (thirty minutes of keyboard wankery).

Honestly it's less that Rush were libertarians and more that they went all in on teenage humanism and never grew out of it and naively embracing Ayn Rand was part of that.
I mean, they certainly are not fond of the sounds of salesmen
I don't think the vast majority of people think anything of the sort, and would probably be completely baffled by that statement in an "I know those words but what is that sentence even" way, if I may be so bold. Might I suggest cooling your heels with a book and some hot chocolate/herbal tea/[insert warm soothing beverage here]?

Granted, it's mostly black metal artists, because of course it is, but the number is still surprising.
