Current Pinkie Pie is. Old Pinkie Pie was just a terrible person. Like, even compared to the already low baseline for the series. I think Current Pinkie (or Pinkie II, as she calls herself) might actually be less of a terrible person than the old one way, demon summoning and all.
Scootaloo > Princess Luna/Cherilee > The Baseline for Normal People > Twilight Sparkle > Fluttershy > The Show's Baseline (Mayor Mare/Apple Bloom/Big Mac/etc.) > Early Rarity/Applejack > Rainbow Dash/Pinkie Pie II > Princess Celestia/Curent Rarity > Pinkie Pie I > Sweetie Belle
I mean, I stopped watching about halfway through the 3rd season and UFP's on its 4th season, and i'm still enjoying it.
It's so divorced from the actual show at this point that knowing the original source material barely even matters.
Yeah, I recall Wacarb outright saying that he didn't like how much of the humor in Friendship Is Witchcraft and The Mentally Advanced Series depended on the viewer already being familiar with MLPFIM. So one of his goals for UFP was to make it funny even without knowing anything about the original show.

The only demon she's summoned so far turned out to be a pacifist.
It's about an abridged series that runs on black comedy. The vast majority of the ponies are awful people, but no, you're not supposed to take it too seriously.

Not summoning a demon that could destroy all of Canterlot by incompetence rather than on purpose only gets you 2 bonus morality points. Not nearly enough to clear the Rarity line (those poor babies).
I'd say because it took out the puzzles and resource management from the original, but they liked Soma which did that just as much, so I'm just gonna say it's the weird kneejerk hatred people have for The Chinese Room and also STEMyness
I don't know what it feels like to think a piece of art thinks it's smarter than you
Like I have definitely seen things that think they're smarter than they are, but I've never seen anything that exudes a sense of perceived intellectual superiority over me, the viewer
i can read like, borges, and it's pretty clear he has read nine times more things than i ever will, at least, but it's not insulting or anything, that's just he's deal
and i can read... i forget the title, something about spanish bookshops that was clearly intended to be like borges but didn't match up, but even then it just felt like it was trying to be more erudite than it was

I know of a fanfic where the author actually included a warning in the story description that boiled down to "Warning: This story could very well be TOO DEEP FOR YOU." And every time someone criticizes it, his response is either, "If you read better, you'd understand it," or "You're too dumb to get it."
Yet the fic itself is just some Gary Stu self-insert wish-fulfillment nonsense. Not good by any stretch of the imagination—but nothing about the story itself screams "I'm smarter than you, the audience". It's just the author himself saying that.

MLP:FIM is good for what it is, if overly reliant on cliché plots and having Flash animation that is showing its age

the shadow of the wind by carlos zafón.
and I also read it
and I wouldn't say that it was trying to be Borges, it was like "Dickens who travelled through time and read Borges once"
standard page-turner with some charming literary garb
the meal as a whole turned out very... beige... though. oh well.
