i feel like i'm not a good judge, i didn't tend to find the US accents in Doctor Who unconvincing, whereas going off how American viewers reacted they were definitely way off
Dick Van Dyke wasn't even attempting a London accent, he just kinda made one up, and as a kid i didn't find it jarring cuz i didn't realize it was even meant to be Cockney
whereas in that Doctor Who story, after people pointed out how bad the accents were i could hear they sounded kind of wrong, but they were close enough that on first viewing i didn't notice anything, i'm quite sure
it's distant enough from a West Country accent that i didn't make the connection before i learned that was where it came from, but close enough that when i found out it seemed so obvious that that's what it is that i wondered why i never picked up on it before
You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
Hugh Laurie's Dr. House accent will always be my gold standard for fake American accents

@Aliroz i was remembering what you said the other day, about the feels stuff getting in the way of the adventure
granted, you were joking
but actually, i don't think Steven Universe is really that kind of show? Avatar is a show about adventure, so is Gravity Falls. SU is at least as much about the everyday and the emotional, and i think that's actually what differentiates it the most from the other shows it usually gets mentioned alongside.
I remember that when I was a kid I genuinely thought there was no such thing as an American accent, because American speech was the default and entirely correct.

Accents, like nuclear weapons and not-getting-made-fun-of-by-Rozzy, are for superpowers.
Nations less than 1.26 million square miles large need not apply, because they are LEETLE BABY NATIONS that I could squish with MY BARE HANDS on accident while holding a small globe.

With a nation as varied and diverse as America, there are of course regional accents. It makes sense that some would sound similar to the uninitiated, because that's just how our brains work. We're much better at distinguishing subtle differences in things that are familiar to us. Besides, even someone from outside the United States can probably tell a Southern accent from a New York.

But you're dismissing your campaign as "trash" before you even try it
How do you know you'll fail if you never even try?

did they not deal with their great responsibility correctly or what
i'm picturing it being really bad
Judge for yourself.
He seems a bit uncomfortable with it, IMO

it's been up for over a month, i just stopped checking
I don't think I've ever seen anyone do it, though. Selfish bastards
I'm so irritated
Same. It's hard to place but it sounds entirely natural, which is interesting.
