  • My dreams exceed my real life
The interesting take on Avatar was how nerds reacted to the Navi being kind of smug by siding with the unsubtly imperialist racist villain

Nobody made that take because they tried too hard to read the Navi as Sillicon Valley Billionaires

admittedly I did find it kind of troubling that nerds sided against the Na'vi
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
what made the Na'vi smug anyway?
  • My dreams exceed my real life
They acted like a dick to Marineman because he didn't instantly know how to survive on their planet.

As if they would fare any better were they dropped into New York with nothing on them but clothes.

    oh, right

see i barely remember anything about the movie >_>

To the book writer's credit, he did say the film would "probably never make it to the big screen" 😛

I've never been to a wedding, though I hope to attend one next summer
  • I've been to at least five, if one counts my parents' remarriage from a few years back

I've been to four...five, maybe? Hard to remember

I've only been to one wedding, my aunt and uncle's

Actually, that's not true. I was at my parents' wedding in 1991

The thing is, I was only 7 months old though, so that doesn't really count

  • Touch the cow. Do it now.

  • I have never been to a wedding.

It helps that almost nobody in my family is actually married.

So I caught up on Gay Rock Anime and I didn't think it was possible for Pearl to exponentially rise again in my rankings, but here I am, wondering how any other character can really compare.

Bad Pearl (Pearl wearing street tough clothes) is canon and I don't fully comprehend why.

If Alien life does exist, it is our duty as beings of Earth to avoid it at all costs.

We know what happens when you introduce species into places they don't belong.

When worlds collide, worlds collide, and one or both are destroyed (see: KT event and comet, or America and the Colombian Exchange).

Also, Mach!  You're alive!  I've missed you!

I've never seen why people like Pearl.  Or Professor Snape.

I've never liked the whole "I was in love with one of your parents and hated the other one, and now I'm all emotionally complicated" thing.  I don't know why, but it irks me whenever I come across it in fiction.

Like, people, seriously, get over it.  This is adventure, and I ain't got no time for none of your feelings cluttering things up.

NO TIME FOR THE FEELINGS, WE GOTTA FIGHT EVIL AND SOLVE MYSTERIES AND SAVE DAYS.
  • How about take over the world and ruin days instead? :p

I would, but the sign says no world takeovers or day ruinationatings.

    ಠ_ಠ
Me and my Swiss flat mate were spying on some Freshers who were moving into the Halls today from our kitchen window (we have a top floor flat), and were eyeing up any good looking guys. I casually mentioned that I was bi (my exact words were "I swing both ways"), and her only response was "Well, more choices for you, then."

    Hah. A good response.

So, I was all, "Don't worry about the politics, parents!  Adults are reasonable, competent and make good decisions.  Things will be okay. On the whole, people are good and don't make terrible decisions".

And then my parents were all like, "The Twentieth Century".

And I'm all like, "Dang that century, ruining all my idealism".

  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
Most people agree that the mid-1800s were a really, really bad time in the US, in particular, with chattel slavery and the American Indian genocide reaching their nadir then.

Oh, I learned a lesson from the twentieth century
That I don't think we can just dismiss
After one hundred years of inhumanity
The lesson that I learned was this

    Sometimes the solution
    Is worse than the problem

Well, that's the thing. The true adventure is the feelings we went through along the way.

When I'm at work I have a text to speech thing read out TvTropes pages and video game guides but I'd like to have a few more methods under my belt, stuff like foods, mental games/exercises (eg something like the "counting sheep" method of falling asleep"
