well, to be fair, it'd be hard to do so in the style most full-CG films go for, though I think you could probably get pretty scary results with that hyperrealistic mocap style that Robert Zemeckis was into in the mid-late 2000's
like, it's already suuuuuper Uncanny Valley for most folks so you could very easily capitalize on that (though I don't know if such a film would be able to make them Big Hollywood Bucks; it'd have to draw in viewers with its premise)

the 2007 version, with Ray Winstone and Angelina Jolie (of course)
it, along with the other two Zemeckis animated movies from that time (The Polar Express and A Christmas Carol) has this style to it where it's shot like a live-action film and the character models are intended to make it look like such, but it doesn't quite move like one and it throws people off (though I've personally never had a problem with the style, m'self).
I only hear about the Harambe meme through the scum crew which I'm fine with, since they could talk about how anime is bad and also bad and I'd still be entertained, probably.
