I haven't heard anything concrete about what England and the EU do for one another? Does the EU make laws/regulations for all of its nations to follow? Do the nations of the EU get trade benefits with one another?
How does it work, tax-wise?
Is there any reason that would make sense to me why England would want to be part of Europe, or would want to leave? All of this is over my head.
What is it that is frightening all of you? Is it economic in nature, or political, in what way does this change England?
Many things
Only sorta
Yes, the EU is a free trade area and trade was the basis for predecessor agreements
As far as I understand the EU does not collect taxes, though presumably the funds of individual governments go towards maintaining things, like the un, nato, etc
Yes, there are reasons
I believe that people are frightened because the campaign to leave was largely based on xenophobia etc
I don't understand economics very much, but I understand anxiety.
See, I'm busy worrying about the government of Utah trying to get control of Federal Lands in Utah, which is more than 50% of the land in the state, and if they succeed, I fear development of a land that is sacred to me and my faith. The federal lands of Utah are bigger in terms of land area then Scotland and Switzerland put together.
And my anxiety over that, allows me to understand how you guys are feeling.
I wish you well at this end of an era, and hope that you understand my worry when this attempted land-suit happens in 2017 when Utah sues the Federal Government for land rights...
I mean there are lots of things. Like, the Good Friday agreement requires Northern Ireland to be subject to EU human rights law, I guess? So now there shall be problems?
I gotta say, I don't envy whoever the PM after Cameron is. It's like 52 Card Pickup except everything is on fire and also the cards are hungry cougars.
Unless it's Boris, he made the mess, he gets to play with the fire cougars.
They're going to develop cities over the open spaces where there's not much of anything, the places that would have been developed if it were legal. Also, mine for coal so as to revitalize the economy of certain counties that were economically based in coal mining and have recently had their economy gutted by coal mining restrictions (specifically, from the Clinton Era. Yeah, we hate the Clintons).
See, Utah was almost an independent nation, and we gave up a lot to join the states. Common view here is that the U.S. wanted a stranglehold on the economic and population development of this state. Some of us feel like second-class citizens, with East-Coast Liberals thousands of miles away owning half our state. I feel blessed, because it keep the land unspoiled and right, even though most of it is miles of hills, mountains, sagebrush, canyons, and not-national-park-teir-stuff, and coal mining scares me.

I know it's selfish but I'm pretty upset because my dream of moving to the UK has now been crushed
But... but my beautiful continent, Centie! My people, my culture, everything I've ever known... It makes me sad to think that my country isn't good enough for you. It doesn't seem to be good enough for my brother, either. He's also upset and says that he can't move to England now, I think he feels your pain.
More sad about my brother, though. He had the same upbringing I did, and he willingly left this continent to visit another nation. I can't understand that. This is my home, this is where I belong, this is where I be.

If it makes you feel any better, America still has a chance to redeem itself in November.
We also have the largest environmental disaster site in the world, with four Superfund sites and fifty three million gallons of radioactive waste, so sometimes fed land isn't perfect

But the mountains and Valleys and the people and the songs, the food and the cracks in the street that look like butterflies, the clouds and the marching bands and the traffic signs and the dogs that howl when a siren goes off and the elementary schools I had fond memories of and the history and the museums and the dinosaur skeletons and everything!
Australia isn't scary, it's the weakest of the continents. The Marsupials could never compete with the placentals, and almost universally, plants and animals from Australia have been unable to survive not-Australia or compete with non-australian plants and animals. See: Foxes, Cats, Dogs, Birds, Rats, Sheep.
At best, it's a Kung-Fu master with no immune system. Fierce and deadly, but very easily compromised.
Huh, you know,, I thought blackberries (the Tyranids of real life) were from Australia, but I guess they're from Armenia and places and they're invasive in Australia as well as here. I feel a spiritual kinship...

Or maybe I should move to the Netherlands? Or a tropical place. Or space.
Is all that really matters the election?
Is that all there is to life, to a nation?
