I feel like the Captain America movies are OK. Like, it has the Star Wars problem where it's really just an OK-or-even-good series that gets way way overhyped, so there's lots of backlash which is honestly just as tiresome to me as mindless fanboyism. The movies themselves are fine, it's the cultural impact that's really generating all this backlash.

Every once in a while, in the US, someone comes along and proposes that we discontinue the penny and start rounding all transactions to the nearest nickel.
...And nothing ever comes of it.
Though Canada actually managed to do it, so maybe the US will follow eventually.

Our coins have neat little names!
1¢ is a penny, a name we swiped from the British.
5¢ is a nickel, because the coins are nickel-plated
10¢ is a dime, from the French word meaning "one-tenth"

We also have 50¢ ("half dollar") and $1 coins, but those aren't very common.
Bills come in $1, $2, $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100 denominations, though $2 bills are pretty rare and are often the butt of jokes. Historically there have been bills greater than $100, but they're not produced anymore.

Well, our government passed the penny change at the same time as a whole bunch of other things such as raising the retirement age, removing a bunch of environmental protection, and cutting huge amounts of money and jobs from a bunch of federal agencies. Naturally, most newspapers' front pages were about the penny thing.
So maybe you folks will get it too when someone needs a distraction.

I thought $100,000 bills were still produced but only used in bank-to-bank transactions. No?
Jane: Everything over $100 was discontinued in 1969, according to this article, and the $100,000 bill was produced once in the 1930s and didn't see much use even then. Almost all large sums of money are transferred electronically now, and wire transfers have existed since at least the late 1970s.

Canada's betrayal of its North American solidarity for the sake of "efficiency", was the second worst thing to ever happen in history, right after the 1997 NBA finals.
Today, I am euphoric. Not because of any phony god's blessing, but because, I am enlightened by Volcanvs,"-said the Roman, as the cities burned with Greek Fire
