It's weird; if it were McDonald's they probably would've just torn down the old one and built a new one on the same site.

Off the top of my head, they did that with the McDonald's in Westerville and the Taco Bell in Reynoldsburg. The McDonald's in Reynoldsburg was renovated recently, too, but I don't think they tore it down (it was only about 10 years old).
You know back in 2008 the sign of the McDonald's in Reynoldsburg was damaged by Hurricane Ike. As a temporary fix, they replaced it with a panel that had just the golden arches on it...against a white background. It was almost impossible to see the logo.

My family lost power for a couple days. Oh, and our roof and siding got damaged. That was about it.
I mean, Ohio is pretty far inland. We don't usually get anything but a little bit of rain from hurricanes, but Ike was especially strong.

Yeah, we didn't get the brunt of the hurricane, because Ohio, but we had strong enough winds to cause some property damage. (And knock out the electricity)

...This is silly, but I've always wondered what Northland Mall looked like in its heyday of the 1960s.
(The mall was closed almost 10 years ago, demolished in '04, and office buildings are now being built on the site)
