I need a persona named Megan
A Megansona, if you will
This doesn't make any sense but I forgot my pills this morning so you're lucky I'm not ranting about imperialism or private property

When a Chinese diplomat's daughter is kidnapped in Los Angeles, he calls in Hong Kong Detective Inspector Lee (Jackie Chan) to assist the FBI with the case. But the FBI doesn't want anything to do with Lee, and they dump him off on the LAPD, who assign wisecracking Detective James Carter (Chris Tucker) to watch over him. Although Lee and Carter can't stand each other, they choose to work together to solve the case on their own when they figure out they've been ditched by both the FBI and police.

Also engineers do take ethics classes. It's a requirement to get your degree.
the specific phrasing is dumb but as a general sentiment "being educated in a hard science does not make you an expert on philosophy" is not really that weird of a thing to say.

i don't like the xkcd strips that are just 'person is wrong about something!', but it seemed a fair retort to 'Munroe thinks society is becoming Idiocracy'
to be precise, you don't need to take a class in something to talk about it, but if you're going to act like an expert (and use your credentials in another field to give your claims extra clout), you should clearly take the time to actually learn about the thing you're talking about, first
y'know i have no idea what an engineering ethics class actually involves, besides what CA's said about it
i mean, without knowing, i'd assume it's something fairly specific, like, ethics as applied to the field in question, without reference to ethics as applied to other areas of life, or to normative or meta-ethics?
just given the structure of the semester, i don't see how it can go into very much depth

Nah, you're cool. I thought it was a fair question, or I wouldn't have bothered to dig out that old syllabus.

At the time, it was the deadliest structural collapse in U.S. history,[3] not surpassed until the collapse of the south tower of the World Trade Center in 2001.
I suppose it's true, but this seems like a really weird comparison to make
To me there's a huge difference between people being killed when a structure collapses due to negligent construction and people being killed when terrorists intentionally demolish a large building

Man is a most complex simple creature: see what he weaves, and how base his reasons for doing so.
Anybody know about arthropods as pets? Like, aquatic arthropods?
I had this hobby kit with a big tank and I put some packaged powder in the tank and another packet that had the eggs and some crab-looking things hatched. Like an upscale version of sea monkeys or whatever.

I was wondering why they physically separated two lanes traveling the same direction...then I looked at the older images before the light rail tracks were there.
They didn't rebuild the railroad bridge; they just added new lanes on the outside of the bridge supports and had to add that awkward island to keep people from hitting it.

Is it wrong to resent living in a metro area that's not big enough to have a light rail system
Comments
you have some level of good taste, then.
also don't mind me, I just got home from work and I am grumpy cow

speaking as a non-ethics-having-studied-person
sorry, i basically was talking out my ass there
about a field i haven't studied, at that
