I always thought this sign was strange. It seems older than the other signs through this part of I-70, but recent enough to not be button copy.

For comparison, most of the signs along I-70 in Columbus look like this, and date to the reconstruction around 2000 or so. This one of the first major projects in Central Ohio to be completed after ODOT discontinued button copy (which Ohio was among the last states to use).

Conversations regarding Dumbledore’s sexual preference tend to make me a little uncomfortable in that there’s a ton of people mad he’s gay “because it adds nothing to the story.”

If it adds nothing to the story, isn’t it a NON-issue than and not even warrant of discussion?

Then again…maybe they’re mad in that him being gay wasn’t really utilized in the story to further a pro gay sentiment rather than have nothing done with it…though, I doubt it like that for most people.

I could also join a discussion on this…I’m not sure how much I want to discuss it “because it adds nothing to the story,” and therefore, doesn’t really matter.

I can still talk to heapers about it if anyone actually has opinions on this, we can always abort and start meming it up Homestuck or pony style.
  • I've heard many imply that Rowling's declaration of Dumbledore's homosexuality was a gimmick on her part, but that's as much as I've heard on the matter. I, personally, don't see how it would count as a gimmick, but I suppose it could be seen as "pandering to the LGBT crowd" by some.

My reaction was more or less "How does this revelation affect the stories?" *thinks* "Oh, it doesn't."

I just figured it was one of those little tidbits. You know, the kind of detail that an author imagines for a character but isn't actually plot-relevant enough to make it into the story itself.

This is how they used to do it. Admittedly I'm not sure I prefer it over the newer style.

I just relied the "gimmick" argument is a tad flawed. As enlightened as we (people) are now, I can't see having a gay character and pandering to a minority doing more good than bad to sales...

And Rowling probably needs hip waders to avoid paper cuts from all the money in her house anyhow.

Don't obsess over wasps, if you must obsess over wasps it's imperative that you don't obsess over random arm flailing at the same time.

For some reason my first thought was to ask what it tastes like.
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
    It probably tastes warm.

That's how that aesthetic would probably taste to me too!

Bigender, bi-gender or bi+gender describes a tendency to move between feminine and masculine gender-typed behaviour depending on context.
For some reason "bi+gender" sounds like some sort of brand name.

Also it reminds me of "DVD+R"
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
I'm not sure if I'm all that masculine, somehow.

^^ I know, but I kinda wanted to hear your thoughts on it, so I asked you to elaborate. That's all.
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
Maybe it was badly phrased or not well thought out. I meant I wasn't really sure if my behavior is all that masculine. Maybe I just don't think about it that often.
  • You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
Personally, I have a hard time thinking of most of my behaviors as inherently "masculine" or "feminine". I don't know why.
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
I tend not to gender behavior, myself. I don't know why, either
  • You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
It's weird, because I think of myself as very "neutral" as far as being "gendered" goes, but there are still times when I feel distinctly "female" and experience gender dysphoria as such.

    Being bigendered is rather strange.
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
    Gender dysphoria must be depressing
  • You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
    It can be.

I'm looking for ways to deal with it though. Talking about it actually seems to help a lot.
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
It's how I felt about probably-OCD. I kept it pretty quiet about it until last month, and talking to people like Idler has helped me a lot (I know, it seems silly).

    It doesn't seem silly.

Talking to people about your problems--especially people who understand them well--feels much better than keeping it all to yourself and worrying.

(It's part of why I'm glad to have Aon to talk to about bigenderism)
