i also shall not covet centralia for what use is coveting something if you're just gonna invade it

Basically, what I'm trying to say is that religions have to co-exist with secular governance, taking into consideration the powers and wills of those who run said governments, and private property/land rights is one of those, but you won't necessarily find a working socio-political justification for any of these secular governmental issues in any sacred text.

I always thought it was kinda lame that you need an adapter to plug things into a phone.

If phone manufacturers didn't have the superficial obsession with making their phones as thin as possible, they could actually make it big enough to put a full-size USB port.

I think you are thinking of different religious texts than I am. I mean obviously it's not gonna be in something abstract like the dao de jing, but the old testament is a very historical text about invading a place and then holding on to it. there's a whole big "plot point" so to speak about there being a king of israel and it's a big argument with God. and i mean you know how exacting leviticus and the like are. i do not think there was a secular/religious distinction of note.

please don't go back to making giant phones that is a terrible idea
  • Honestly Leviticus, Judges, and Kings are more history than religion.
  • kill living beings
i think that distinction would be very difficult to carry through

I can't stop thinking about the Black Terror.

    image

Basically, Bob Benton is a pharmacist who creates a chemical formula called "Formic Ethers" (1940s science fiction nonsense), which gives him superpowers and uses it to fight Nazis. And he wears a skull-and-crossbones on his chest because that's the chemical symbol for poison. Which makes him a pirate anyway.

    image
I don't know why I like him so much, but I like him a lot. Black Terror's a public domain character now, so.

Incidentally, this is probably a huge coincidence:

    That's unfortunate, i'm sorry.

Will you be able to retake it?

Yes, in August. But the most I'll be able to get is a pass, no matter how well I do in the retake.

I may have done enough to scrape a pass. The paper was out of 90, and I would need I get 36 marks to pass, but I doubt that I did.

I just need to rely on my coursework now...
  • I just opened up the paper and my mind just went blank. I panicked.
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
Oh, you haven't got the results yet?  Fingers crossed, then.  Maybe you've done better than you expected.

Would you say you find coursework easier than exams, or harder?  i definitely found it easier.

  • I've just got out of my exam. I won't get the results until mid Feb, I think. And I find coursework so much easier. I'll quite happily churn out five lab reports than do an exam.
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
    That's good, then, i think?

They don't expect everyone to be equally strong on both exams and coursework, that's why the course is structured the way it is.  Some people do better under pressure, others need more time.

I always thought 3½" floppy disks were cleverly designed.

They looked nearly square, but they were actually slightly longer than they were wide, to keep you from inserting it into the drive sideways. They also had a little cutout on one corner to keep you from inserting it into the drive backwards or upside down. It was a simple but effective way to force the correct orientation, since that's the only way it will physically fit in the drive.

Nowadays SD cards do something similar.

Okay, let's say I have a 12 by 4 spreadsheet, and I want to add qualities A, B, C, and D in an even spread. Let's say I want each vertical column to have 3 As, 3 Bs, 3 Cs, and 3 Ds, but also each horizontal column to have an A, B, C, and D each.

What's a good thing to use to keep track?

a foot is slightly more than 30 cm, so i guess you could call 30 cm a decimal foot

if a 'decimal foot' is an actual thing i'm gonna look real silly
