Honestly my first thought upon seeing "liftplay" was those blogs where the shoplifters claim they're "roleplaying" due to some bizarre belief that they won't get in trouble for shoplifting if they claim their detailed accounts of their shoplifting are fictional.
It was the very first time something I had written was up on the internet. I had such trepidation, talking with people I would never see and never know. Sure, I post all the time now, but it was exhilarating, and a bit terrifying.
I would have gotten in trouble had anybody known.
First post: 31st of may, 2010.
Became friends with Yarrun: lost in missing threads, happened over the summer of 2010. First hug in October.
I still haven't been banned from TV Tropes, and because I still have a lingering occasional interest in the wiki and Forum Games, I don't think I plan to do so.
Also I definitely want to be able to meet at least a few of y'all but I think it'd be for the best if that happened after I become fully independent. Can't say my rents would be particularly receptive to the idea, despite knowing (vaguely) of my attachment to this place.
why are really mainstream things considered nerdy? game of thrones and star wars are like the biggest things in our culture right now, yet you can be considered a nerd for liking either one. is nerdiness defined by a certain level of devotion to a thing? video games are something pretty much every guy is expected to like, but it's another thing that's considered nerdy. i was going to say only games like call of duty and grand theft auto are considered cool, but skyrim's like the most popular game ever (hyperbole w/e i know the most popular game would probably be minecraft but that's too family friendly to be 'cool') and it's a fantasy rpg.
His early work is a little austere for my tastes, but by the time he began circulating what we now know as the Blue and Brown books, I think he had really come into his own as a philosopher. The Blue book in particular has a new tone that's more inquisitive and unsettled, and it really gives the underlying ideas a sense of urgency. People describe his late work as a break from his early work, but I think there's a continuity there that gets overlooked.
No, I don't have a dog.
Yes, it is a raincoat! After Ludwig's tragic 1951 death at the hands of prostate cancer (He should have learned from me and juice cleansed every two weeks to keep his prostate healthy) his posthumous corpus was released piece by piece, and each book is a masterpiece unto itself. On CertainTY is certainLY the most underappreciated work of the bunch, with its pressing questions of lunar ascendancy almost two decades ahead of their time. The Philosophical Investigations, the flagship work of his posthumous corpus, was released in 1953. I think it's the most important work of philosophy ever published, and every paragraph is so revolutionary that most people don't even bother to look for connections between the paragraphs. But they really should, because the Investigations aren't just about dissolving all of metaphysics in language. It's also a heartbreakingly personal expression of a solitary genius who wishes to share meaning with others. Hey Slavoj!
TRY GETTING AWAY WITH SELF PLAGIARISM NOW, YOU FUCKING STUPID BASTARD! YOU, FUCKING BASTARD!
There is a mountain, and at first only certain people climbed it, and only so far. Then technology improved so that more people could climb to that point in droves and called themselves climbers, not realizing that the original breed of climbers has already surpassed them.

It is my firm belief that even men and boys should be allowed to wear pretty dresses if they want to
i'm readin a japanese comic about japanese soldiers and there's always that sense of dread, like, what if this is written by some nationalist creep? what if this person thinks the only problem with wwii was that there wasn't enough of it. but then the japanese troops talked about surrendering being ok, and i'm reassured

Imicow picks up a bass and starts playing the bass line from "Under Pressure" but then Princess Alice grabs her mic and starts singing "Ice Ice Baby" over it

Which comic?
Imperial Guards (Koukoku no Shugosha), which, oddly, is not about imperial guards. more or less russo-japanese land war with more magic.

@Sredni: I imagine one of our classmates is recording all this on their phone as we make this impromptu mashup of the two songs. :P

Do you like Ludwig Wittgenstein?

It must make Jhonen Vasquez cry
It predates #GG by a good few years, so it's just kinda stupid as opposed to downright horrible.
