    No, that was pretty cool.

The Wii U eShop is an amazing insight into the human mind. And by that, I mean you get to laugh at people who think SMB3 is a more casual game than OoT.
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
Depends what you mean by casual, i guess?  OoT is an *easier* game, but it has less party potential.

I mean, they had a snake-man with a beard where his head should be, a fliping nonsensical giraffe-looking longneck guy, and a pink guy with giant horns.
The random crowd scenes full of weird aliens have always been the best part of Star Wars movies

I'm using the in-store meter definition. (Which appears to be "Literally every SMB game is casual, regardless of what game it actually is." The only game with a lower "Casual" rating than OoT is TLL.)

Red Letter Media has made it frustratingly hard discuss Star Wars.

    And Boyhood.

    And internet critics in general.

Boyhood didn't appeal to me before Red Letter Media commented on it.

I am very angry at people enjoying a movie the prophets dismissed-Red Letter Media's shitty-ass fandom
  • We can do anything if we do it together.
Because the professional critics always know best, am I right?

(Not to say this makes Red Letter Media automatically correct, but...)

I had to unfollow, like, four people during Oscar season because they kept shouting Red Letter Media's stupid memes.

    It's a fucking cancer.

I have never seen RLM mentioned except in your posts, not gonna lie

Yes, it is objectively impressive, but it makes it really hard to judge it as a proper film.

People are allowed to not find the achievement subjectively impressive if the film does nothing with that achievement.
  • My dreams exceed my real life
Maybe that's true, but the catchphrases were terrible.

They make it really hard to have a discussion, because they shut down people's cognitive faculties.

Just so many ideas in these films.  Part of why the EU is fun is that it can expand on bit parts like these.

    Give this a read.

It doesn't mention RLM anywhere in the post but still goes into why the film is not to my taste.

Oh, so Central Avenue Alirozes once and now the verb is named after HER?

Fun fact: the last image on Aliroz's list sold more toys in Tanzania than anywhere else, because in the movies, his language is Haya, a Tanzanian language.

whenever people call me sir it really weirds me out

    Me when I'm a she.

Also, on The Good Dinosaur: Pixar threw out the director six months before the original release date, then Disney delayed the release by 18 months, and Pixar completely reworked the story. I saw it yesterday - it was certainly watchable, nice to look at, and had a great score, but I found it full of clichés and overly manipulative at times. It felt like a poor man's How to Train Your Dragon.

And I found HTTYD really overrated, and its sequel superior.
  • I loved HTTYD, but the sequel is one of my favourite films ever.
  • Though my favourite animated film of all time (so far) is Ratatouille. Something about the film just gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling.

I hear that the marketing for it has been...not ideal

I hope this isn't an insensitive way to phrase this, but...do Indian languages handle the distinction between mass nouns and countable nouns differently than English does?

Because most English speakers I know from India tend to pluralize words we'd usually think of as mass nouns. "Homeworks", "softwares", etc.

    I dunno, it's just a thing I noticed.
  • kill living beings
"indian languages" isn't a real category. there's like fifty different official languages in india and they're in multiple language families.

i dunno how hindi or whatever in particular does anything
  • kill living beings
they might just be confused by irregular pluralization, like everyone else is?
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
India actually has a lot of English speakers, so it could be a characteristic of the local dialect, maybe?  Just speculating though.

i know there are certain constructions that are characteristic of an Indian English dialect - the tendency to use 'gift' as a verb, for instance.  There are also words which are exclusive to Indian English, like 'pre-pone', meaning to move something to an earlier date.

"pre-pone"! it's like the opposite of "postpone"! I love it.

seriously, "oxen"? the fuck is that, man. (i know why it's like that, i'm just saying, what the fuck)

Yeah, nobody but me seems to really like this movie a whole lot.  I mean, there are people saying "It's good" but nobody really going crazy about it.  I'd say it's my favorite of all the pixar movies.  So, I guess this is my Peabody and Sherman.
