Still sick.
I emailed my chem lab instructor and told him I won't make it today. >_<
Gocomics are running colourized versions of the early Peanuts strips, from before Charlie Brown really settled into his personality. He's often quite upbeat, even mischievous at times, and the other characters are often nicer to him.
Every time anyone is a dick to him or he gets upset, people in the comments are like, 'So it begins'
i suspect he grew into his character over time, not overnight.
Oh, apparently there was an exploit that was used to DDoS 4chan and 8chan
they removed the images that were causing it and they claim to have patched it but apparently Malwarebytes don't think the root cause of the issue was resolved?
I'm not fond of "mainstreamers" either, even if "normies" is even more obnoxious. I wouldn't even say elitist, maybe, just unnecessarily exclusive and too easily insulting. They're simple generalizations as you said, and the groups talked about like I've seen on here are always nebulously-defined. I swear I've seen criteria change as is fitting to the different context.
I just think, is it so difficult to use "conventional" or "standard" or other words which tend to comment on general groups, without the implications of... whatever, I'm too tired to describe. I'd say my dad has rather conventional tastes for someone of his age and type, for example.
They're simple generalizations as you said, and the groups talked about like I've seen on here are always nebulously-defined. I swear I've seen criteria change as is fitting to the different context.
Well, that's to be expected when many different people use the same term.
It also goes without saying this is context-dependent to a degree, like if I used it, or how I call Section a square, I guess.
I also don't see how phrasings like "mainstream tastes", or talking about those with e.g. interests in primarily mainstream video game titles, doesn't get the point across equally well. Since it is interests we're talking, not people defined as said interests.
Section: I was speaking about multiple conversations with the same people.

True enough. Also some terms apply to a variety of intersecting groups so become difficult to generalize about. 'Nerd' is one such word that crops up a lot here, and which i don't always mind since i identify with it myself.
It's the generalizing itself i don't like, i guess, especially when the generalizing is about a group as huge as 'mainstreamers', in which case any generalization is obviously going to be nonsense.
That video series I mentioned ended with the dude who did it donating thirteen thousand dollars to Chris's Etsy, thus ensuring that he never made any money off of it, and basically single-handedly financing the creation of Sonichu Issue 11, which he will never review, as he is now effectively, executive producer.

I'll just say that 90% of Sonichu is piss-boring
The only real amusing bits are the ones where Chris takes real life incidents where he fought with mall security and rewrote them so he's the victor
A lot of the crying over Sonichu at first was because the artwork and story were so childish, so obviously written by someone who learned about life from the TV set. Thing is, once you get past the parts where Chris is basically wishing they were back in high school (the weird sexual hangups included), there's not much to be offended about.
Chris draws like a grade-schooler? So? Most people can't draw that well. Chris's stories are hackneyed and borrow too much from prior art? Disappointing, sure, but not really offensive in this case. This isn't Seltzer and Friedberg we're talking about here.
Also some of the battles with the trolls are funny, although it's hard to get offended by those, because they treated someone who had a very loose grasp on reality already like garbage, and she responded by attacking them in his fantasy world.
Like, Chris believes that she dated Vanessa Hudgens and that Shigeru Miyamoto wanted to make a game about Sonichu with legal council from Jay-Z. This is not a person who understands anything and can really be held accountable for reacting to things badly in a way that doesn't actually hurt anyone other than herself.
dear people who work in media studies and marketing research, in all my life, 'being a millennial' has never once been my motivation or reason for doing anything
i do things because of my personality, which is mine, or because of my circumstances and experiences, and the circumstances and experiences of people born within a particular span of years are much too varied to generalize about
Chris's pretensions of being a great artist were also clearly the kind of thing an eight-year-old stays to themselves to keep their self-confidence up.
There are people like JDR who draw just as badly as Chris but think they're great artists on par with other adults, which is a much dumber way of thinking.

I had a dream where I was walking through a small Centralia town and helped somebody carry 50 cardboard boxes to a post office, which was right next to a train station. Yay trains!

Did something happen?

i hope you feel better soon, too.
outgroup signifiers, they give off elitist vibes
nobody identifies with these labels, they're used to generalize about other people
Put the cucumber in the cutlery drawer and the knife in the fridge.
How to find a stressed out student.
:P

Holy shit
well that's generous
I need to get around to reading Sonichu in full soon.
I'm tempted to make that a liveblog thread, but I'm not sure how well that would work out.
It ain't over til it's over!
