Blue Shells are evil and imo should not exist, but when you have an item you have to use it before you can get another item, so you don't have much choice in the matter
i'll admit, i sucked at SNES Mario Kart. It was much too hardcore for me, i was terrible at it. Never mind finishing first, i could barely stay on the track.
Key thing for me when it comes to video games is fun. Am I having fun? Then I'm enjoying the game. If the fun levels go down for whatever reason, I stop having fun.
if you're in front you can still get red shelled or struck by lightning
getting blue shelled definitely doesn't make the experience more fun, since in most games it's impossible to even dodge it, and at best it's really, really hard
also why the heck is this video presented in a chipmunk voice
Maybe they've just gotten to the "In the Flesh/Run Like Hell/Waiting For The Worms" part of the cover version of Pink Floyd's The Wall that is their life. Soon they will get to the finale, and get better. Or die. Or loop around. Whatever happens at the end.
Certain things superficially bear the markers of making something annoying but the cumulative effects of not HAVING those things has a more negative impact
It's great being in first place, obviously, but that's something everybody wants, hence, conflict. There needs to be an element in place to prevent people from taking too commanding of a lead without incentivizing mediocrity. The blue shell serves that purpose.
One game I seriously need to play is Sunset Overdrive.
But I don't have an Xbox One.
Fuck.
You could honestly switch "Toolsie" in that quote for "Tre" and it would still be true.
Ours is the swiggity-struggle, Tools. Hopefully they'll go multiplatform with it if there's a sequel; part of the deal with Microsoft was guaranteed ownership of their IP, so it's a possibility unless they continued with their MS exclusitivity deal.
Not the blue shell. The blue shell rewards mediocrity and punishes success. Not only that, but it does so disproportionately. The blue shell can lose you a race.
The red shell is a good item. It is hard to dodge, but it can be done, without the use of an item you're not going to get in first place and without having to slam on the breaks.
The blue shell is not superficially annoying but ultimately beneficial. It's horrible, sloppy design.

The joys of your favourite game developers swapping consoles for the next gen.
it's frustrating because this is to some extent a topic i actually care about a good deal but no one goes into these willing to have their opinions changed and largely they're about games i either don't play or haven't played any time recently.
i'd actually rather have the discussion about whether or not Hearthstone's paywall is a good thing

changing the rules to win in Monopoly is fine, though.
Still a pain, though.
Also the graphics in the SNES one have not aged well, imo.
I laugh at your incompetence
Simples.
But I don't have an Xbox One.
Fuck.
i wasn't complaining about all SNES graphics, anyway.
i seem to be in a combative mood. Hm.
