  • "Once people find out the TRUE REASON why I made this female character in a super skimpy booby outfit, they'll feel ashamed about looking at this partially nude lady" ~ Hideo Kojima.

i want there to be like actually a good reason, simply because i cannot think of anything that possibly could be

    i like surprises

Quiet has a parasite that gives her superpowers and photosynthetic abilities.

There are other parasite-using soldiers that also have superpowers, but they don't have photosynthesis.

There's a point where Quiet is dressed in military camo and she's choking, suffocating, and then her pants come off and her shirt is ripped and she's ultra-powerful again.

I found that excuse kind of dumb considering the fact she wears ripped up nylon stockings. I sure as hell wouldn't want something that covers my whole leg if I was in her situation. I dunno, I just feel like there's a way to make a design skimpy but not...demeaning, like I feel hers is. Plus the way she way framed by the camera in the beginning with her weird sexy walk and unnecessary cleavage shots was...eeeeeh. I do like that you can develop regular combat clothes specifically for her later on.

that isnt really a good reason, it's a lame excuse

I don't think it's solely responsible for said decline. It just feels like CN has more or less turned its back on what it was prior to 2010 (of course Adventure Time was the third in a line of shows that lifted the network out of the deep, deep dork age it was mired in from about 2006 to 2010)
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
(hell, the seeds for said dork age were probably planted as far back as 2002 or 2003)
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
and this back-turning is endemic to TV in general, not just CN

Maybe I should be happy that CN hasn't gone all-in on nostalgia like Nick has

The dork age resulted in CN stupidly chasing off talent like Craig McCracken and Genndy Tartakovsky (the latter over made-up bullshit over Sym-Bionic Titan not selling enough nonexistent toys), so

I think I’ll just stop watching TV in English.

I’ve got a bunch of unfinished Kamen Rider and Super Sentai shows, countless adaptations of wuxia novels, a bunch of movies I’ve downloaded but haven’t watched...

There’s days upon days of things I can watch there.
  • My dreams exceed my real life

    @Odradek why are the tits

Brain-fibres and the like, looked at as forms of the being of mind, are already an imagined, a merely hypothetical actuality of mind — not its presented reality, not its felt, seen, in short not its true reality. If they are present to us, if they are seen, they are lifeless objects, and then no longer pass for the being of mind. But its objectivity proper must take an immediate, a sensuous form, so that in this objectivity qua lifeless — for the bone is lifeless so far as the lifeless is found in the living being itself — mind is established as actual.

The principle involved in this idea is that reason claims to be all thinghood, even thinghood of a purely objective kind. It is this, however, in conceptu: or, only this notion is the truth of reason; and the purer the notion itself is, the more silly an idea does it become, if its content does not take the shape of a notion (Begriff) but of a mere presentation or idea (Vorstellung)-if the self-superseding judgment is not taken with the consciousness of this its infinity, but is taken as a stable and permanent proposition, the subject and predicate of which hold good each on its own account, self fixed as self, thing as thing, while one has to be the other all the same.

Reason, essentially the notion, is immediately parted asunder into itself and its opposite, an opposition which just for that reason is immediately again superseded. But if it presents itself in this way as both itself and its opposite, and if it is held fast in the entirely isolated moment of this disintegration, reason is apprehended in an irrational form; and the purer the moments of this opposition are, the more glaring is the appearance of this content, which is either alone for consciousness, or alone expressed ingenuously by consciousness.

The “depth” which mind brings out from within, but carries no further than to make it a presentation (Vorstellung), and let it remain at this level — and the “ignorance” on the part of this consciousness as to what it really says, are the same kind of connexion of higher and lower which, in the case of the living being, nature naïvely expresses when it combines the organ of its highest fulfilment, the organ of generation, with the organ of urination. The infinite judgment qua infinite would be the fulfilment of life that comprehends itself, while the consciousness of the infinite judgment that remains at the level of presentation corresponds to urination.

Man is a most complex simple creature: see what he weaves, and how base his reasons for doing so.
Legend of the Condor Heroes starts with the families of our two protagonists: two heroes and their wives who, after suffering under the rule of the Jin interlopers, try to make a better life in the country, and come to love and respect each other like family, the heroes making a pact and their wives forming a sisterly bond. And then their own government kills the husbands and sends the two young mothers on the opposite sides of the land, where they raise their sons in vastly different circumstances.

Romance of the Condor Heroes starts with a young heroine leaving her secluded sect that lives in tombs to see the world, where she kills a bunch of charlatans. The charlatans' friends try to get revenge by hiring an inventor, but the heroine and the inventor fall in love. But the inventor is pushed into crossing ethical and moral lines by the heroine, who is trying to make him stronger. And then the inventor meets a young woman, who is the subject of an unrequited love of a married man. And then the young woman and the inventor tries to escape, but the heroine doesn't let them, but are saved by the married man's master. And ten years later, the heroine has become a rampaging killer, and seeks revenge against the woman and the inventor, and cornered, they send their children away with the married man's wife (who is their friend), and kills themselves to deny the heroine the pleasure. The heroine takes out her frustrations against the married man, who is there to save the young woman, who he's still in love with. Poisoned by the heroine's venom, the married man tells his wife that it's okay for him to die, because at least he can be with the young woman in death.

And we still haven't properly met our protagonists yet.

    So you know. Convoluted.

Today I learned about Andrew Dice Clay, and he's described as a comedian. And that is not at all what he is, because he doesn't make jokes. He just says things, and for some reason, people laugh.
  • image Wee yea erra chs hymmnos mea.
Now I'm reminded of how some library or something that had invited Andrew Dice Clay to do whatever professional assholes do managed to get his Twitter account mixed up with the account of Andrew Dice, AKA Spacedrake. (Half of Carpe Fulgur and all around really nice guy. Unlike ADC, conveniently enough.)
  • My potential novel is finally coming together.
