Man is a most complex simple creature: see what he weaves, and how base his reasons for doing so.
I read through the second arc of the New 52's Justice League because it had Asura in it, and while I think they look super cool, it just makes me so upset because I hate that Justice League.
I hate the tone, I hate how the League are just assholes for no reason to the people they're supposed to have good relationships with, I hate how they default to melodrama every time instead of connecting, I hate the idea of superheroes as gods, I hate the attempt at tragedy that just looks really pathetic, I hate how they try to sell us this problem as something reasonable to be worried about but it is, and I hate Wonder Woman/Superman.

I don't have a lot of standards for my sideblogs. I'll put stuff from things I actively hate if I think it will help. Like Korra, I hate Korra. But hey, kung fu. I'm not too keen on Gundam either, but hey, it's there.
But I feel ashamed putting Nanoha stuff there. I guess I'm also ashamed of Madoka too, but that comes up a lot less.
i liked Madoka for its economy of storytelling, effective pacing, and effective use of interwoven motifs and themes.
it seems to have developed a large fandom based around none of those things, because Fandom does not care about those sorts of things. because Fandom sucks ass.

i have no idea, i operate merely on heresay, a shred of evidence, and my intimate knowledge of the power of Fandom to make everything it gets its hands on significantly less engaging.

I guess its pace was really good.
But like...why are Mami's breasts so big? Is it because some kids have physiological differences that cause them to experience puberty faster than most? Or is it because it was sold to a particular audience?

you are prone to negative exaggeration, friendo.
i do exaggerate but it does seem to me that Fandom is this sort of roving beast that takes a given work or set of works and sort of breaks it down into a few certain things it wants to find (things to ship, things to have "feels" over, things to stick ya dick into, ect.), without really engaging with what the thing is trying to say/do/whatever.

well, probably the latter? but that is patently obvious.
like, if you just look at fan content, Madoka is the same as Homestuck is the same as Star Trek is the same as Steven Universe is the same as Invader Zim is the same as Adventure Time is the same as Welcome to Night Vale. like, it's an endless series of palette swaps, even though the works these fandoms are ostensibly celebrating have very little in the way of commonalities.

that is because that is how most people engage with media.
including myself, honestly.
The sort of analytical approach that concerns itself with messages, overarching themes, etc. is rare, and not without reason.
To put it another way, your problem is not with Fandom--fandoms are just groups of people connected by a common interest after all--your problem is with how most people engage media.
Also I actually find most "fandom drama" (fights over shipping and whatnot) kind of endearing cuz it's mostly younger kids who do that sort of thing and idk it's just kind of funny at a distance.

Her breasts aren't even all that large in the original series.
and when it was pointed out to me i was like "oh, that makes sense, she serves as a mentor so she is slightly more physically mature"
