That seems to amount to "don't critique elements of culture because it makes me tired"
Like things are only loudly lambasted like that because of how popular they are. Entourage isn't just terrible because it's pandering, sexist bullshit, it's terrible because it's pandering, sexist bullshit that's really popular. And people need to criticize that, because otherwise the only voices are positive ones.
i would imagine most of the people buying the books actually like them. But i would also guess that most of those people are not reading those kinds of reviews.
"We have to keep sacrificing pigs to the volcano, because the rain hasn't come back" is an opinion I have to take seriously for some reason, even though I am getting really tired of the bacon shortage.
Yes, that's exactly what I meant. I've secretly been working for all the evil forces of Corporate Media That Want You Go Consume Their Content, and THAT'S why I disagree with you. There could be no other possible reasons, not even the ones I have provided beforehand, it has always been about enforcing the Need To Consume Content. And by identifying me as a corporate shill, you have immunized yourself to the corrupting influence of Content.
I can't be reasonably expected to not get irritated when I'm repeatedly dismissed as... shit, I don't even know what. A member of one of the various factions that is beneath Odradek's contempt, at any rate.
i had literally no idea there was a person named Johnathan Franzen before this discussion.
This means, incidentally, that i have never once heard anyone whine about Johnathan Franzen, but i hear this Consume Content stuff like multiple times a week

that said, this is obviously not what that article boils down to, the article boils down to " writing redundant, rehashed media criticism is a waste of everyone's time" which is a similar but much more valid point
"I have read little of his work but he sounds like a cross between Emile Zola and Tom Clancy. Apparently his ideas are very cool and he writes beautiful asides about the oddest things, but his plots meander or veer into awkward places and his character writing is inconsistent; particularly, he has issues with writing women, especially in his latest, written after his divorce."
He is IMO one of the best producers ever. He's done several songs for Jay-Z and produced two cult rap classics in their entirety (Uptown Saturday Night by Camp Lo and Pilot Talk by Curren$y).
He seems to rarely be brought up in GOAT producer discussions compared to someone who is equally worthy but more well known like Dilla or Dr. Dre.
They have some legends as well as some guys who are well known contemporarily (El-P, etc.) and also some lesser known dudes (Kirk Knight, Digga, Jonwayne, etc.)

It's a girl alien called Nebula.
And the not so imaginary friend is called Lucky
Lucy and Lucky.
Lucy has grown up to be a bitch, though.
And the prize for understatement of the century goes to the Telegraph!

If i understood your analogy.

the sredni has spoken
he says "doctor, doctor: everytime I drink cocoa my eye hurts!" and the doctor asks him "have you tried taking out the spoon?"
