I saw someone in class wearing a Broncos jersey with Super Bowl XLVIII's logo on it

I would find this roughly akin to introducing yourself to someone new with "today is the anniversary of my parents' divorce"
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
considering that this person previously said they were a big fan of the team
  • I bought new shoes for my mom!

surely you don't actually mean that
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
Well what I'm saying is that neither of them would be a happy occasion for this person

maybe the parental divorce would be depending on the parents

I would still have expected it to be supremely bad for this person though >_>

I feel like you greatly overestimate the investment the average person has in professional sports

There are people who get overly fanatical about it but most people aren't like that

He was a self-proclaimed big fan of the team. I have seen big fandom
  • he probably was not using the same metrics that you are using

like, compared to most people I am a big anime fan

but like I don't have hyperventilating screaming fits about my waifu or whatever

so like if someone says "I'm a big sports fan" i would not think that they mean to say "I catch every game and buy the merchandise and know all the players and celebrate when they win and am sad when they lose" not "I'm a dysfunctional shell of a human being who is traumatized when my favorite team loses a big game"

Maybe I'm basing this on some of the people who've wrote into the WYTS articles (someone on one of the New York Giants ones said, with apparent total seriousness, that the days the team won Super Bowls XLII and XLVI were two of the five happiest days of their life)

I remember when SA would get really mad at TvTropes for saying stuff like that, because apparently nerds being able to fixate on nerd stuff in unhealthy ways overrules people fixating on sports in unhealthy ways.
  • now my post does not make sense

I admit sometimes I get envious of sports fandom over this, then I realize that maybe nobody should go that apeshit over anything

Dude, I spent like days arguing with some guy who could not be budged on his position that if something does well commercially it means that a bunch of people put 'likes' on it like you do on social media or some shit, so it has to be good. It was a headache.

After spending a day talking to ISPs, If I never have to talk to the sales division for an ISP, I will be happy. But mostly Verison. If nothing else, I will never use Verison's services, purely out of spite because the guy I spoke to was a condescending piece of shit.

i maintain that Christopher Eccleston's series had the best character arcs of any season since the revival, and Christopher Eccleston was an excellent Doctor (though since he was my first i am a bit biased)

Tennant is my favorite Doctor, mainly because he was the first actor I saw in the role.

Souls fandom can be as bad as Fallout fandom sometimes.

I've never really interacted with the Souls fandom outside of you guys (or the Fallout fandom for that matter). What's so bad about them?

i am unsure whether those two qualify as 'canonical' given the backlash over River and the somewhat controversial ending.

    i liked them, nonetheless.
