Man is a most complex simple creature: see what he weaves, and how base his reasons for doing so.
It really isn't "objectively better." The new structure is effectively a comment system, and is worse.
The current structure has a flow shaped like a slope: you start from the top and you go down. It cascades, it goes different ways, whatever. This structure is like a ladder. And why have ladders when you can have stairs?
Big reblog chains are actually just a non-issue. Whenever something goes around ten reblogs, you just start a new text post, or you send asks and use that as a thread. In the past six months, I have only ever seen large reblog chains in joking contexts. Which is to say, shitposts.
If we don't like it, yes, New Xkit will probably fix it. But that makes New Xkit bigger and heavier, and for the individual user, it's spending resources on something that doesn't need to be fixed.
The original format was aesthetically pleasing when all the usernames and comments were simultaneously visible. It was irritating when that wasn't the case, and with enough comments it was unusuable.
The new format lacks the aesthetic appeal of the first, but it's also functional 100% of the time and it's a sturdy ground to build off of.

Ideally, you shouldn't need to adjust your behavior for any internet service, but you do. You always do. I can't make the adjustments I need to keep using Facebook, Twitter, or any of that.
Like if a forum thread gets too large, you just move to a new thread, right? That's something everyone should have the common sense to do.

Yeah, unreadable reblog chains are broke, but the only folks who break it are the people who set out to break it, and the people who aren't considerate. And this fix is just going to break more in the ways that matter.
That said, I don't know about link reblogs. I'll have to try it out.
You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
I got up at a quarter till 5 in the morning and instead of going back to bed I got up, went to McDonald's, and let myself into the 24-hour library on campus, where I am now.
Hey, have you guys seen the film that came of in November 2013? The one with the tough, loner female who is associated with a certain element and wears her hair in a braid? She has a cute little sister who she would do anything for. Oh, and at some point in the film, her dress transforms into another dress with a symbolic meaning. There's a cute blonde dude and a stern yet handsome brunette dude.
People on Tumblr losing their shit over an objectively better format for the site, oh what else is new
Can we have less patronizing, "objectively better" holy shit.
People on Tumblr losing their shit over a relatively innocuous update that replaces an indentation quote system that while fine most of the time occasionally lead to unreadability with something more typical of social media.
Did you at all want to discuss the change, or did you just want to feel superior because some people are affected by something that doesn't affect you?
Cause it certainly it doesn't seem the former here to me.
Bad formatting on Tumblr isn't something worthwhile to get worked up about. And this is coming from someone who's engaged in a tumblr argument with people who sympathize with North Korea.

Like they changed even how normal, un-reblogged posts look. Originals. Things that did not need a change. There's so much space between the linebreaks.
The creature stared intently, its black, beady eyes boring into him. Slowly, it slithered forward, leaving a thick trail of oil in its wake. He backed away from the beast, only to find himself trapped against the wall. The creature's pale, gelatinous body quivered in anticipation, as it extended a slick tendril towards him, grasping at his leg.
Desperately, he clawed at the tendril, trying to get the creature to release its grip, but to no avail. His fingers sank into the creature's flesh, becoming impossible to remove. The creature dragged him slowly towards one of its many toothless maws, and he shuddered as the slime dripped down onto him.
Soon, his screams were muffled, and eventually, cut off completely, as he was pulled wholly into the waiting mouth and it closed around him, leaving only the contented grumblings of the creature.
...I'm still not sure what a content consumer is, but I assumed anything spoken of with such unrestrained vehemence must be some kind of unfeeling man-eating monster.
The song sounds different. Like if Cohen re-recorded it or something and they're playing on the radio whichever of the recordings I'm not familiar with and it sounds wrong. Like, uncanny valley.
Like how I can't listen to any version of Les Mis that isn't the one on the cds at my home that I listened to approximately infinity times.
Comments
how about songs that go on the word "go"?

Bleh
The behavior adjustment shouldn't be a necessary aspect of using the site.

I sleep in yoga positions and find them comfortable.
maybe estate agents in this country would be less despised if they started using cutesy asian smileys
Man, that film was awesome.
That okay?

I have five expansion packs on my Windows 8 (!!!) laptop and it runs like shit.
I liked that song so much!
