wow, that's a pretty hard-hitting start. continuing
After finishing the article I remembered how hard that site strives to be venomous.
Like, I don't like Silicon Valley either, but this is just a collection of insults that vaguely suit the label of "gross techie", and SA is basically just archives and archives of similar pieces of forced mockery.
the general criticisms aimed at XKCD are confusing to me because i mostly associate it with several friendly and generally sweet math teachers i have had

Randall Munroe has always struck me as a genuinely nice if ocasionally misguided person, which makes many of the criticisms levied at it seem weird to me too.
You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022

Yes. Because I just posted the most intelligently written piece of dialogue of all time, which expresses all things in breathtaking realism and clarity, including breakups.
I swear to god people are going to retcon Independence Day as a thought provoking meditation on the nature of the United States, patriotism, and the role of the USA in the world when Independence Day 2 comes out so as to better shit on it.

So I learned that this is basically a doom metal version of the Doom level track, and now I want to seek out instrumental doom metal tracks. I have a friend that I will have to ask.
doom metal being a genre unrelated to the game. Though I quite like the interpretation of Doom as a doom metal game; it's violent, gory, ugly, and well, fairly forboding, what with all the strung up corpses everywhere and your only interaction with other living things being the ability to hurt and kill them.
Brutal Doom is more action-movie-y, though with uncomfortable tinges of sadism. You get health bonuses for executing mortally wounded monsters. There's a lot of emulation of pain involved. I'd rather shoot things that fight even when maimed, like how the Revenants have no "mortally wounded" state, instead crawling along the ground (fairly rapidly) still propping themselves up to fire rockets.

Personally, I always listened to thrash metal whilst playing Doom.
Although, as Doom remixes go I like the Dark Side of Phobos project.

The speed of the game certainly lends itself to that sort of thing. Related to thrash metal, have you ever played DemonSteele?

pop wasn't very funny except in a nonsensical pop of pop
