    Christ.

I think digital download might be your only legal option here.

    i think so.

Which is the cheaper, more environmentally friendly choice, actually.  i'm overly attached to physical copies of things, probably.

...huh, I seem to have accidentally taught myself how to enter numbers on a numpad without looking at it.

Which is impressive, because when I tried teaching myself to do that I could never get the hang of it.

It is really weird to me that there was a point in the strip where Lucy was young enough to need a high chair.

    With hindsight, it is weird.

Linus and Schroeder were also portrayed as toddlers at first.

DAE cringe a little when you see someone typing in a long number and instead of using the numpad they press each key in the keyboard's numeric row with their index finger?

We can do anything if we do it together.
I think Charles Schulz just gradually aged all the characters until he found what he felt were the right ages for them and then he stopped.
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
i do remember that being the case with Linus.  Also Sally.

It's weird, when i was a kid my Gran had a bunch of Peanuts compilations and i read them over and over, but since they were mostly earlier strips, these early Peanuts were, to me, what Peanuts was about.

After a while the comic settled into a particular style and stuck that way, and it's the style everyone remembers.  But that was never how it was for me, until recently when i realized that, that was just 'the later strips that were different'.  When in fact what i thought Peanuts was like was really Peanuts-before-it-got-into-its-stride.
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
My aunt has compilations of the early Peanuts strips. I used to read 'em a lot but I haven't seen them in years.

My favorite was when Charlie Brown went to the comics store

    Yeah.

Linus fits better as Lucy's wise beyond his years little brother than a baby.

Not really but it can be a tiny bit exasperating to watch someone type very slowly, although i don't type particularly fast.

    Indeed.

He actually did the same thing with Snoopy to a degree, too.

also Lucy's expression in that last panel is great

    just like 'seriously?'

I have never used the numpad in my entire life

Snoopy was more of an actual dog early on.
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
i use the numeric row but i don't just use the one finger, that'd take forever
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
puppy!Snoopy was drawn in a semi-naturalistic style which makes his early appearances almost unrecognizable now

This is an example of something I have to type on a regular basis for my job

I end up using the numpad because it just feels so much more natural when I'm typing in long strings of numerals like that

Also the Veloci-chans were very tsundere.

The T-Rex-tan was of course, Kuudere.

You know i always found it weird that there were 2 characters named Patty.

And that the original Patty stuck around as a minor character for quite some time after Peppermint Patty showed up.

i mean there's no rule that says you can't have 2 characters with the same name but it's not an especially common name and the comic doesn't have that many characters.

I think I use the numpad in a slightly unconventional way, too

Because there's a bump on the 5 and presumably that's how you're supposed to figure out what keys you're on without looking

But I always end up using the 0 as a point of reference instead because it's twice as wide and easy to find with my thumb

i mainly use the numpad for typing accented letters.

Now I find myself wondering if there's any English-speaking countries where the pun is lost because they don't have peppermint patties.

I say "English-speaking" because if you were translating the comics you could just change her name to something that would still be a pun.

    ...I should have guessed.

I saw the Fringe Media thread and thought hey, that's something i am interested in, maybe i can even contribute, and then i realized i don't like any one video thing enough to throw it in everyone's faces given the opportunity. :v

I could also just watch whatever myrm-dradek brings up. I'll write it down.

at least the original Patty had a better fate than Shermy, who just stopped appearing altogether after the 1960s

    Munch munch, chomp chomp...
Every time Peanuts and C&H are discussed, I remember how I've actually quite enjoyed the little that I've read (though C&H much more), but nothing has ever quite stuck with me enough to want to up and binge them.

I enjoy Calvin and Hobbes more than Peanuts myself, but I must admit Watterson owes a lot to Schulz in terms of influence.

Schulz was at least smart enough to quickly realize how ultimately lame the idea of a genderswap of the main character was.

There are a lot of people with more experience than he had at that point who never come to that conclusion.
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
she wasn't strictly a genderswap Charlie Brown, she was also proto-Lucy

but honestly i just brought her up because of The Ax

I still like Pinkie Pie, TBH.

Rainbow Dash remains my favourite, but she is a pretty close #2.

    Pinkie Pie was great.

    Applejack was also great.

i didn't stop liking the characters, i just went off the fandom and then i felt the show went downhill and i stopped watching.
