...huh, I seem to have accidentally taught myself how to enter numbers on a numpad without looking at it.
Which is impressive, because when I tried teaching myself to do that I could never get the hang of it.

DAE cringe a little when you see someone typing in a long number and instead of using the numpad they press each key in the keyboard's numeric row with their index finger?
i do remember that being the case with Linus. Also Sally.
It's weird, when i was a kid my Gran had a bunch of Peanuts compilations and i read them over and over, but since they were mostly earlier strips, these early Peanuts were, to me, what Peanuts was about.
After a while the comic settled into a particular style and stuck that way, and it's the style everyone remembers. But that was never how it was for me, until recently when i realized that, that was just 'the later strips that were different'. When in fact what i thought Peanuts was like was really Peanuts-before-it-got-into-its-stride.

Not really but it can be a tiny bit exasperating to watch someone type very slowly, although i don't type particularly fast.

This is an example of something I have to type on a regular basis for my job
I end up using the numpad because it just feels so much more natural when I'm typing in long strings of numerals like that
You know i always found it weird that there were 2 characters named Patty.
And that the original Patty stuck around as a minor character for quite some time after Peppermint Patty showed up.
i mean there's no rule that says you can't have 2 characters with the same name but it's not an especially common name and the comic doesn't have that many characters.

I think I use the numpad in a slightly unconventional way, too
Because there's a bump on the 5 and presumably that's how you're supposed to figure out what keys you're on without looking
But I always end up using the 0 as a point of reference instead because it's twice as wide and easy to find with my thumb

I just kinda figured that once he came up with the pun he figured it was too good to let the other Patty keep him from using it

he could have given the first Patty a nickname
although Peppermint Patty is a much more memorable character

Now I find myself wondering if there's any English-speaking countries where the pun is lost because they don't have peppermint patties.
I say "English-speaking" because if you were translating the comics you could just change her name to something that would still be a pun.

I hear the next episode is about them bustin' Pony Head out
I saw the Fringe Media thread and thought hey, that's something i am interested in, maybe i can even contribute, and then i realized i don't like any one video thing enough to throw it in everyone's faces given the opportunity. :v
I could also just watch whatever myrm-dradek brings up. I'll write it down.

at least the original Patty had a better fate than Shermy, who just stopped appearing altogether after the 1960s

@Section42L are you looking forward to more Pony Head?
Every time Peanuts and C&Hare discussed, I remember how I've actually quite enjoyed the little that I've read (though C&H much more), but nothing has ever quite stuck with me enough to want to up and binge them.

I enjoy Calvin and Hobbes more than Peanuts myself, but I must admit Watterson owes a lot to Schulz in terms of influence.

I think digital download might be your only legal option here.
Which is the cheaper, more environmentally friendly choice, actually. i'm overly attached to physical copies of things, probably.
It is really weird to me that there was a point in the strip where Lucy was young enough to need a high chair.

My favorite was when Charlie Brown went to the comics store
just like 'seriously?'

brutally murdered off-panel and never got a subsequent mention
but honestly i just brought her up because of The Ax
Rainbow Dash remains my favourite, but she is a pretty close #2.
i didn't stop liking the characters, i just went off the fandom and then i felt the show went downhill and i stopped watching.
