I often feel shorter than I am, and then I look down at the ground as I am hurtling towards it after I've tripped over my shoelace again and realise that I am quite tall.
Man is a most complex simple creature: see what he weaves, and how base his reasons for doing so.
Let's see, a disdain for food, which he describes as composed of "rotting ingredients." Grocery shopping is "a multisensory living nightmare." Kitchens are full of red flames and sharp knives, so it's a "torture chamber."
He says he cannot bear to use a service that brings food for him, but has no qualms about other services, like Uber and Saucey. And. He has his clothing custom-made in China and when they're dirty he just donates them. But oh, it's okay, because since most clothes are made overseas, he's just buying direct.
He says you (as a nation) suck at cooking, suck at driving, so it's past time to just automate the whole thing. All his scars are from both, and he hasn't made any new ones recently (pssst I think it's just him who sucks at cooking).
Television is an unsightly black hole, apparently, where living rooms arrange themselves around like an altar.
We no longer live in a hunter-gatherer society. I have no use for bulging biceps. No one in the United States plows fields or hammers steel by hand. It has all been automated.
Pssst, who wants to tell him? I don't want to tell him.
We need mental strength. We need creativity, patience, discipline, and humility. If people had more self-control obesity would take care of itself. Perhaps companies would be more productive if managers had more humility and employees had more discipline. These processes are abstract but they must have a physiological basis, and it seems intuitive that more difficult processes consume more energy.
Okay. That, right there? That's convinced me.
He's a robot and he thinks everyone else is a robot.
I can understand it with Game of Thrones, but I roll my eyes really hard at people who think Hunger Games is too grimdark.
maybe it's not the lack of horrific scenes that makes Hunger Games "grimdark" maybe it's lacking the presence of an escape from the darkness that it presents as reality.
part of being "grimdark" is that it presents casual violence and or "Darkness" as something is everyday with little to no "light".
Man is a most complex simple creature: see what he weaves, and how base his reasons for doing so.
Hunger Games has a weird tone in general. But eh, whatever, it's a fable for kids being pushed into overachievement and the strange voyeuristic spotlight that adults shine on their lives.
Also, I'm not mad anymore. And like, I can see why someone would want to replace a chunk of their food with the liquid? Hell, I'm tempted myself. But Robert Rhinehart is a huge asshole and I don't like him.
Why did we need both a Deep Impact and an Armageddon anyway.
Also one of the scenes in Deep Impact was shot in the room where Bobby Kennedy was shot, which is weird because the scene and movie had nothing to do with that.
Oh yeah, Bobby Kennedy was shot. Good times, good times. 8/10 would over-publicize "startling revelations" in magazines for decades again, but the sequel is never as good as the original.
for some people, being mean and off-putting and having an attitude and acting all superior and being spiky is a cool thing to do.
for me, i see it as "that thing that some people think is cool but is really silly/stupid".
thus goes my opinion of the whole "thug life" concept.
why do some people (like the wannabe gangsta type, and other "tough guy on the block/on the internet/etc." types) WANT to produce a social situation where aggression, obnoxiousness, and offensiveness is the norm?
are those people really so bored with their lives?
well, regardless of their reason, i see it as good enough cause to oppose this sort of thing, because it's annoying to live in an arrangement where aggressive power plays and superiority by intimidation are the norm.
it's slightly annoying when other people who are the losers in such a scenario don't join such an effort, only to think that they have some chance of becoming the dominator at some later point in time.
Man is a most complex simple creature: see what he weaves, and how base his reasons for doing so.
For a lot of these people, aggressiveness is already the norm, as dictated by specific societal pressures, so their own expressions are a survival tactic.

Yeah, I agree.
That's why I was never able to get into the Epic Rap Battles of history.
i don't like the idea of establishing dominance for the sake of dominance
the point of establishing dominance should be to (1) use that dominance to increase justice/equity, or right wrongs, etc. and (2) if in a semi-permanent position, to use that position to rule or influence with a gentle and just hand

yeah, that makes sense, which is why i added the term "wannabe".
it's one thing to grow up in a tough neighborhood. it's another thing to want to look tough on the schoolyard just because it's seemingly fun to do so and gets one more chicks or something.
i definitely believe that 100% Orange Juice's relatively more friendly multiplayer community is at least somewhat due to the fact that the game is not monotonically skill-based and experienced players can easily lose to less experienced ones based on the whims of fortune
You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
Or worse, what if he likes scotland and decides to move there and what if we drift away and he never visits or writes and what if he meets a pretty scottish girl and they get married and she doesn't like America.

this is weird because i always pictured naney being shorter than me and CA being taller than me but it seems i had it the wrong way round

Will my brother get mugged in Scotland? Will he get hurt or killed?
What if there's a riot and someone takes a sledgehammer to his head.
THat's what he says he's doing in his texts.
They have two-layer busses in Scotland! With staircases! How brilliant and bonkers is that! Also he says that he's going to see a castle tomorrow.
