    Woo.

this is why i'm sometimes hesitant to show off when i'm doing cool stuff

because it feels bad to those people who aren't

also just think about all the people who aren't showing off their jetting off to exotic countries

as for myself, i am at my parents' place right now, and i am homebound because i am sick

Transhumanism as an ideology has never gotten a single medical breakthrough funded, nor saved a single life.

You don't need to be a transhumanist to be in favor of expansion of medical technology, and life-saving inventions, and any discussion of whether we should cure death and live forever in the future is a discussion that's not about how to bring the cures we already have to as many people as possible.

i don't think this describes Foucault accurately from what i know of his work, but i could be mistaken.

While I also consider transhumanism to be, frankly, masturbatory and not all that useful, I think this is dishonest.

By that logic, any conversation is then one we're not having about how to bring cures to people.

The "political" stance of Less Wrong leads idiots to think Gamergate is a good cause worth supporting, but police violence is an unimportant object-level issue.
  • transhumanism falls within the same line as communism, It's an idea people created that will never be properly executed even as people use it to make themselves fell better.
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
also @Counterclock if that was an attack on me, well, couldn't you say that about any activity?  People are literally dying, yes.  Unless you mean we should all devote our every waking moments to activism and/or curing cancer, in which case i'm sorry but i don't think i am emotionally or intellectually capable of meeting your standards.

At least people have ATTEMPTED to establish communism. Transhumanists just stay home and jerk off.

There is a movement to establish which charities have the greatest effect, and then donate to those.

LWites have tried to game the system with utilitarianism to make everyone donate to Eliezer's Save Everyone From Evil Future Robots fund.

Stick with what you've got then, if you like it better. They're not ending support for Windows 7 or 8 for a few more years anyways.

    Excellent.

It's almost funny, because a screen like the above and what you've been showing me are almost my style. In fact so much more my style that I'd jump on board with the aesthetics. Except some thing or things just don't sit well with me.

So, for those playing along at home...that's Microsoft Edge claiming to be Chrome claiming to be Safari claiming to be Konquerer (KHTML) claiming to be Firefox (Gecko) claiming to be Netscape (Mozilla).

This has gotten out of hand.

  • THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS

There used to be Super Americas around here

    Now they're all Speedway
I remember being obsessed with SuperAmerica at one point in the late 1980s, since we were in that part of WV/KY a lot. There was one not far from my paternal grandparents' house, and one right smack in the middle of Louisa, KY (near where my granny lived at the time). I'm pretty sure they're both either Speedway or Marathon now.
