I guess my problem was that I kept pushing for that thread to survive, when really, I just thought the idea of Waluigi being a Rothbardian AnCap was dumb.

Denver's airport is really cool, and not just for the weird art
Like, they've got people-mover trains and everything

even Wendy is a perfectly usual name my phone spell check was familiar with, despite being actually invented in a relatively recent story, not just used
Alice is a good actual name, no less from a classic of English lit, you could do a lot worse. I mean, theoretically speaking, it's no worse than calling yourself Jane because you adored Jane Eyre (I say this because I enjoyed it years back and it came to mind randomly). Heck, even if it's purely because of Alice in Wonderland, that's entirely fine, inspirations and whatnot can come from anywhere and everywhere.
Unrelated, pretty certain I'm going to go see Suicide Squad when it comes out, at least if I remember my saying this.

Since Disney bought the rights to Peter Pan, you have to register with the Disney Corporation if you want to change your name to that, or call a child that, though.
anyway I checked and wendy was occasionally used as a diminutive for Gwendolyn before Peter Pan, which I don't think is that important to the point, but I should mention it

. . . there probably are people calling their kids Katniss, aren't there?
this is your fault Collins
It's amusing to me to think that in 10-20 years we're going to encounter a lot of people born in 2008-12 named "Barack" when that name was almost unheard of in America before President Obama
Why do you dislike Jane Eyre again, and while I'm at it are there any other books common in English lit classes that you dislike so I can see if we're opposed more. That would be fun.

If I'd been obsessed with Peter Pan instead of Alice in Wonderland at the time I came to terms with my transness, I could very well have been a Wendy instead of an Alice, honestly.
But there's no Wendy Touhou so Crystal would still be an Alice and then we wouldn't match anymore so it's a good thing I was hittin' the Carroll.

i liked the early sections about school and how things were not good for jane and such, but then it became an incomprehensible romance story with a complete fucking asshole so totally unappealing it's difficult to understand the psychology of a character into him.
i was pretty good with the rest of ye olde classic canon. i like jane austen and beowulf, which are very similar in that
It's not actually an ugly name, it just registers as a made-up fantasy name to me, and i reflexively dislike The Hunger Games despite not having read them because i find the premise unpleasant.

Hm, so we're not so in disagreement, then. Boring.

Which happens to be a children's book.
It's not silly, lots of people named their kids after that book.

Was Katniss an existing name, then?
There's no real story to it, but it's so great anyway.
But i can't find reference to anyone called Katniss prior to The Hunger Games.
I found why Naney likes it
:P
