tbh i suspect 'don't throw starfish' is actually funnier to me because i have no context for it
  • My dreams exceed my real life
I feel like at some point, we should get to see John Connor being the brilliant leader and tactician Skynet fears enough to send back an assassin to kill him in a weaker state.

Because in every movie I've seen him in, he's just A Guy.
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
honestly, I only vaguely understand the context of "don't throw starfish"
  • Chicken

    Chicken loves her sword.

there were starfish being thrown, and a reprimandation to not do so.
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
pretty much, although I think my favorite anatomical area was somehow involved
  • Chicken

    Chicken loves her sword.
    She and I both

I will literally not give up that thing if I'm playing her. I've agreed to switch it out for any other sword-weapons, but none have shown up so here we are.

    Suddenly, a vivid childhood memory.

Lakewood, Ohio, a small suburb of Cleveland. The year is 2003. It's a hot, dry August night.

My parents, my brother, my sister and I were all staying over at my Aunt Sarah and Uncle Joe's for the weekend. They didn't have any kids at the time.

We'd eaten dinner at Tony Roma's, but it was still early in the evening, so instead of heading back to the house, we stopped at a nearby elementary school, where my siblings and I played on the playground while the grown-ups played bocce in the grass...

did this result in the ruining of anyone's christmas?

(was that even the same show?)

the episode that The Sea Urchin Lass is from took place in the winter season, so maybe
  • Still had that GBA playthrough open in another tab

This guy has clearly never watched a Scooby Doo cartoon, and it's embarrassing to watch.

also Jane what did you think of Nagato Yuki-chan in the end (assuming you watched all of it)?

need to finish it, haven't seen all of it.

Did they come up with an ending or did they just sort of stop since the manga is still ongoing IIRC?

The next evening we went to Lake Erie.

Lake Erie is a depressing place. It's a beautiful body of water, definitely befitting of the title "Great Lake"...but it's so polluted.

There was a family there whose children were throwing coins in the water. It made me sad to see even the people who had come to appreciate the lake's beauty contributing to the pollution.

We didn't stay very long, because there isn't much to do at Lake Erie. I wouldn't really want to swim in it, and it's not like we had a boat or anything...
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
no wonder all the Midwesterners out here talk up how great it is to live here

Pennsylvania is a strange, sad state.

I was on the Ohio side, though. :P

Pennsylvania is a strange, sad state.

One day I shall escape from it into the pine barrens, where  I shall live out my days in an eternal search for the Jersey Devil
  • Pennsylvania is a strange place.

The trees are all very tall and slightly bent, it always seems like it's about to rain or snow and often fails to do so, and it's often very hot or very cold.

Not to mention anyone who lives here is living on the bones of the Susquehannock. Sometimes I do wonder if the state is cursed, it's certainly haunted in some way, whether literal or figurative.

Just kind of stopped, really.  They basically ended it on a gag, it didn't really feel like an ending.

    eh that's basically Pennsylvania too.

If there's one thing about Denver I would take over the Midwest any day it would be that nice dry air you've got going on

It's been obnoxiously humid here all summer, and the rain hasn't helped

I was at Lake Erie once, it actually seemed pretty nice.

This is a tangent, but you've reminded me of a weird fact about my old community college.

You see, Columbus only has one community college, and it's a fairly large one. Columbus State's campus is easily bigger than those of a lot of smaller four-year universities.

And the main pedestrian mall through the campus? It was, in fact, built on the site of a former Catholic cemetery.

I dunno, I'm not a superstitious type, but something about that always just seemed a bit too Poltergeist to me.

I think this is basically inpossible to show in a movie. So you shouldn't.

Maybe play John Connor in a video game.

Also they call it a "mallway"

...which I'm pretty sure isn't quite the right word? Is "mallway" even a word?

For a movement perpetually angry at boredom, self-obsessed people, and lack of empathy, antinatalism is eternally brought down by being boring, self-obsessed, and unempathic.

I've heard the term "mall" used for an open pedestrian walkway before but "mallway", not so much

You might mistakenly think antinatalists are writing their blogposts to others.

In fact, they are mostly writing it to themselves.

Credit where it's due, though: that was an impressively well-marked pedestrian detour

When the city closes a pedestrian walkway they just put up "SIDEWALK CLOSED" and say "kid, you're on your own" but when the college does it they make sure you know the alternative

This annoyed the heck out of me.

Basically, in 2013, the City of Columbus finally got around to putting ADA-complaint wheelchair ramps at various intersections downtown.

    That's good.

Less good: they did it by constructing the ramps on all four corners at once, leaving no sidewalk usable to legally cross the street. I had to walk in the lane of traffic!

Sometimes in their comments sections, they think they are talking to someone else.

They are not. They are simply having monologues that are similar enough that they might as well be the same person.

    I said to, not for.
