Fun fact: when commissioned to design ABC's logo, Paul Rand charged extra to put the letters in alphabetical order.
It's good blockbuster cinema, which means it's good but not good good
Basically low to middle B's on Rotten Tomatoes
Though to be fair, I've only seen the first, and the second one's said to be better, annoying teenage sidekick aside.
The second is pretty good, although it's funny because every new Transformers movie is a slap in the face to the themes of the second movie.
Dude, please, elaborate.
I am legitimately interested to hear your opinionson this
The big thing in the second movie is that the characters decide that they aren't going to take Skynet's eventual creation as a given, and work to sabotage it instead of just taking down the T-1000 chasing them.
It ends with the T-800 dissolving himself in a vat of molten steel while giving a triumphant thumbs up, because even though they've lost a lot, they've prevent the horrors of Skynet and the deaths of most of mankind.
And then Skynet happens anyway in the next few movies, because fuck that.

this is why i hate the endless sequel machine, it stops things from ever really ending in a satisfying way, they keep going until they suck so hard they cannot succeed anymore

This is a frustrating thing to me, so i agree.
i don't necessarily think sequels can't be good, but they shouldn't undermine what came before.
Although I feel Prometheus's moral was to give a slap in the face to people who desired a "Alien expanded universe" or more generally, people who want meaning and ultimate answers whatsoever.
i don't see the problem with rebooting things, though.
Well, not in principle, anyway.
There's no problem in principle it's just kind of lazy and usually more of a nostalgia cash-in than anything else.
Of course people fall for it so it'll never stop. idk
True.
i suppose i like the idea of things being adapted in a way that brings something new to the table while still being sensitive to the source material that made it popular in the first place.
Man is a most complex simple creature: see what he weaves, and how base his reasons for doing so.
See, you know what I think? I think I love sequels.
Because somewhere down the line, there will be a sequel that sucks. It will suck balls.
And now, because time travel retcons are accepted now, we can have a movie that just says; "Hey, remember that other movie that sucked balls? We agree that it sucked balls. Let's forget about it."
A dirty word is acceptable now and we are the better for it.

There's also this theme from T2 about Humans are destined to destroy themselves....
Truth of the matter is, the future Terminator movies and series only failed to account for the fact that it keeps setting up "Skynet" as the villain, It's like the Legend of Zelda franchise in that sense, Ganon didn't need to be the only villain, yet that's what they constantly did.

At least being tired now means I won't be tired when I get home, most likely?

But this is not what 'reboot' generally implies
