Why is it that cryonic preservation usually seems to involve preserving just the head and not the whole body?
last time I asked this I got no answer, so yeah, I still wonder
cryonics is based on the idea that, in the future, science will allow restoration of life processes from dead tissue. i mean, you're not just betting that your cancer will be curable, you're betting that what is now literal actual tissue destruction by freezing will be reversible.
given that you're already banking on magic, you might as well save money by not preserving the body, since body transplant is easy compared to unfreezing.

Sometimes I wish I could give blood
I don't have a fear of needles, no...but nurses always have hard time getting any blood out of me

There's a reason Wallace never finished The Pale King. With Infinite Jest, he dismantled the novel. It was finished. We didn't have to write novels anymore. And indeed, we don't have to read any others. The Pale King, of course, isn't a novel but a parody of posthumous novels.

Everything came easily to Wallace. He was blessed with severe genius, but it was also a curse, as all blessings are also curses. It tormented him to know that he could do anything he wanted. Think any thought imaginable. Life, he once said, came to him at ten times the speed it comes at everyone else. He could read The Bible in fifteen minutes. He took math apart and put it back together again for fun. In fiction, finally, he thought he had found a pursuit that would accommodate his abilities. The novel was his Everest, as Infinite Jest is our Everest. But where he ascended effortlessly, we will take centuries to match him.
Dune has the distinct honor of being namechecked by none other than David Foster Wallace when he appeared on the Charlie Rose show to promote the paperback edition of Infinite Jest. That is its only distinction.
