Is it racist that I like those games even though Mandinka has nothing to do with the actual Mandinka people, and Mancala is a gibberish name chosen to look "foreign"?

Who would you be racist against for liking Mancala?
I know that all the good developers left to go make Steam games, and they're probably better off now, but that doesn't mean that seeing stuff that the Android Store would reject in the 'hot new' category doesn't hurt inside

Man, be glad you never got to see the behind the scenes stuff there.

something simon pegg has completely missed which is a p key factor in whats hes talking about, which is the general globalisation of hollywood's audience
the cultural nuances and subtle plots of films like 'the godfather' et al would not necessarily translate well into being big global blockbusters whereas spectacle, superheroes, robots and big explosions translate pretty well across cultures. foreign markets are incredibly important for hollywood nowadays, way more so than in the 70s/80s.
the move towards merchandising is something tht has just come about with films being more readily available online and also just general capitallist need for continually growing profits
another thing I saw mentioned on twitter was the fact that Netflix and the like means you can watch pretty much whatever you want on your home TV or computer screen, which means that the main sort of thing that you're going to REALLY WANT to see in theaters is the high-spectacle stuff
Lots of places still don't have Netflix, so it's not really relevant to the mass marketing of movies.
Considering that a significant fraction of revenue even for, say, Pacific Rim was still "domestic", as in the United States, and Netflix is in more than just the United States before we even get into copyright-violating methods of accessing media available to even more of the world, I'd say it's incredibly relevant.
I have spent the past hour-ish trying to find out basically anything about the rapper Mr. Fantastik (most notable for collaborating with MF DOOM twotimes) and apparently no one knows anything about him. Googling it will turn up a bunch of threads on Reddit, the Stones Throw forums, etc. filled with speculation.
One thing I did find, was someone theorizing that Fantastik is MC Rodan, a minor member of the formerly DOOM-affiliated Monsta Island Czars group.
Rodan himself is a bit of a mystery and has been off the map for years. Except, in 2012, someone claiming to be him posted a mixtape called American Inquisition, track by track, on Youtube. The cover of which features someone who is presumably Rodan himself sitting on the back of a white man wearing a replica of MF DOOM's old mask.
The lyrics are pretty violent (which is consistent with someone calling Rodan a "goony type of person") and homophobic to a degree which is not all that common anymore, and also touch upon some conspiracy theory stuff at times. In technical terms though, it's very solid. I haven't listened to the whole thing yet as it's not organized into a playlist or anything of the sort.
Incidentally, Ronomical (Rodan's Youtube account) has posted exactly one comment in its existence, which was to threaten to knock some dude's teeth out. This wouldn't be notable, except that said comment is pretty recent (this past January) meaning Rodan might start posting videos again at some point.
idk, I think it's interesting and just thought I'd share. I might post this on r/HHH too.
The most likely explanation is that Fantastik (who might also be Rodan) is just a dude who is good at rapping that happens to not rap for a living.
there was chicken and wild rice pilaf and they gave a mormon bishop a dunn brothers coffee giftcard in honor of his distinguished volunteering doing puppet shows for kids
he got a bunch of other stuff too mind you but still #oops
But fewer than the first one, and the best song from those recording sessions ("Blockbuster Night Pt. 2" w/ Despot and Wiki) never made it to the album.

Is this one of those situations where it's a game that someone's parents own and you've just had it long after it went out of production?
The trappings of Mandinka might be a little questionable, but the actual rules of the game are too abstract to really be considered racially biased.
