'extremely emotional' things are things people may justifiably care about a lot, nobody believes a show is actually God or whatever, so i'm not sure who JesuOtaku thinks she's addressing, on TVT or off
Where one goon would invent something they think tropers would do, and then another goon would repeat it, and eventually you'd never be able to convince them that tropers didn't actually do it, because they heard about it all the time

no but one person literally did once, so that means that everyone who is a fan of any show does.
that's just how things are sorry you're going to have to pack your bags and move to the Dr. Whorship Convent.
at this point I'm not sure what I'm sicker of, media I don't like being praised constantly or people complaining about the media I don't like getting praised constantly.
Having different interpretations of a thing is OK. Acknowledging flaws in what you love is OK. Getting down on people for pointing out those flaws or not agreeing with you about a thing when they're not outright trying to be a wet blanket or needle at you is stupid.
Seriously, sometimes you guys just assume the worst of any remotely critical statement.

Yeah this is probably the correct interpretation.
I just don't get why it's a particularly tropery thing.
The whole "let's not permit snark about works ever" thing that Fast Eddie started is probably what she's referencing. That, and people picking apart media in a particular way and getting dogmatic about what they get out of it, which is not an unheard-of mindset thereabouts.
people should bloody well say what they mean and then i wouldn't assume the worst!
She is, but I think it's a lot clearer if you have the context of the sort of shit that Hope Chapman has had to put up with as a reviewer and a person.

fair enough, i know nothing about her honestly
Anime reviewer, formerly in video form. Used to be on TGWTG. Ex-fundamentalist Christian. Whip smart, warped sense of humour, pretty analytical particularly by that crowd's standards. Got a lot of hell from stupid people on and off the site for having opinions that not everybody liked, being too high-falutin', not being a dude.
You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
"Used to be on TGWTG" is describing an increasing number of people as time goes on

something about the Persona series makes me not interested and i can't figure out why
(it is a matter of taste, not quality)
the newest Persona 5 trailer reminds me of Durarara for some reason, and I think I have a similar vibe from that, but it's not the same nor are my reasons for being not interested in it
I wish I could see what Tumblr sees in Pacific Rim.
It's so weirdly polarizing. I think the divide comes from people who care about the amount of effort put into it and those who don't.
...that came off as patronizing. I don't necessarily disagree with the latter mindset. For example, Boyhood's gimmick doesn't really appeal to me because I don't see it in isolation as having affected the movie, even if the gargantuan effort necessary likely made the film a better whole.
There was a lot of thought put into it, which is evident when you consider that, for example, most side characters are memorable despite not having lines.
don't actually know how microcapsules work, nor do i know allegedly-presently-used amine-based carbon capture technology, but
> "This innovative gas separation platform provides large surface areas while eliminating a number of operational issues, including corrosion, evaporative losses, and fouling,"
trying to make sense of this
i think corrosion makes sense based on the type of substance used; amines might be less neutral (in acid/base sense) than baking soda though I don't have enough chem knowledge to intuit that for sure offhand
evaporative losses makes sense because they're using solids rather than gases or volatile fluids -- presume the amines used would have probably been volatile fluids
fouling - i have on idea what produces the gunk but i presume it's just something that's based on the exact reaction and reaction products that may be able to accumulate

like i know TVT wasn't that originally or in the majority, but they were present on the site

obligatory 'but they weren't punk' goes here

still not my wheelhouse tho

the only bits i liked were the Ron Perlman bits
Anyway, I'm heading home. Have a good night, folks.

but anyway this sounds interesting
Then again, I don't like anyone who was ever on TGWTG.
