if nothing else, I must give Crapcom credit for making up some diabolical puzzles...using fucking magnets to push yourself around in a Zelda game, wouldn't have expected it
The Daisuke is a character who is the forerunner of a social group. He's the respected elder member who started it all. Doesn't necessarily actively hold an important post in the group, but generally gets a lot of respect and deference, in a sort of "elder statesman" role. The Daisuke continues his active service, and generally does not engage in something particularly glorious -- he's usually just still doing whatever (usually not-too-flashy) thing that he did that made him famous in the first place, and he's often pretty humble about it, despite the respect that others afford him.
Named after Daisuke Amaya, the indie developer (pen-name Pixel) behind the game Cave Story.
......wait, you mean that's not what this trope name refers to? You mean this trope name refers to a completely different trope and is named after a Digimon character?
incidentally is the trope you described a real trope?
i'm not sure what you'd call it... something like 'the sergeant major', maybe?
i was more so thinking of that person who keeps their old job/post despite being the progenitor of something huge and someone people would expect to have taken on some major leadership role already.
I have been reading up on Zelda things for every game except the one I'm getting in order to keep my hype levels maintained (because I know myself, and I know I will just put off playing it if I'm not excited to as soon as I get it), a lot of these games look very good, I do have to say.
Wind Waker looks fantastic for something that is now three generations old. Cel-shading can do a lot.

Me: Here you go doggie, have a new toy!
Dog: Yay!
TEN MINUTES LATER
Dog: *tosses shredded ruins of the toy in front of me* Look, I killed it! Aren't you proud?

he wasn't even called Daisuke in the dub

i was thinking cause a sergeant major is an nco but has been serving for longer than many commissioned officers and is usually more respected
(this wouldn't be an accessible name for anyone who doesn't know British or Irish history, so i wouldn't actually propose it on tvt)

I don't spout enough witticisms and new age wisdom for that
Though I certainly have the emotional and mental volatility down
