More people have said that and been killed than there are thorium decay products.
2hu fans are like real magical girls because they like to fight for no reason and some are newbs and some are god-tier and some of us are elitist and some of us are ignorant and few of us have good social skillz. It's all part of being a magical girl in real life~!

Yes~!! Pyridrym wanted me to watch it so we watched it. I've seen TGM before and learned about it but AGDQ taught me some more things about it and it seems like it's really great stuff. Also Pyridrym is good at Tetris but insists that she isn't.
Strong trends of perfection. The waifu can do no wrong, any concessions to her/him are justified, insults against the waifu are taken super seriously, and the 2D world is perfect and clean compared to the "3DPD" World. If the subject has had a normal romantic relationship, he or she remembers the experience with regret.
Whole thing isn't too far off from religion, to be honest. Not, like, mainstream Christianity or Buddhism. The smaller ones. The more cult-like ones. The ones that will smack you at the slightest sign of dissent. Scientology, basically.

I'm pretty sure the term 'waifu' is used as a joke 99% of the time and you may be reading entirely too far into it.
Not that there aren't kooks on like, Sankaku Complex, but they're not the norm.
Their idea of perfection also tends to suck out any sense of personality from their waifus. And 90% of the fantasy stuff is about what they want to do to the waifu, or what they go through to be with their waifu. Nothing about the waifu's thoughts or opinion, how she'd act, the general things that would make their waifu a real person. Or even a rounded character.

Even if it is largely parody, it's parody that stems from a real phenomena. There has to be something to the truth claim underlying the whole thing.

A waifu isn't supposed to be a real person. That is the whole point. People with waifus call them "2D girls" not just because they're a two-dimensional image. "3D girls" talk too much. They have too many opinions, too many problems, too many flaws. They're too real. Waifus shut up and do whatever cute thing(s) you fetishize and love you unconditionally.
I tried MOBA games before and they are ok I guess. Speaking of communities, the western Touhou community can be pretty weird and has factions, sort of, and there are very few of us who are good enough for/interested in playing for score. Also /jp/ gives me cancer but I keep going there. >_>
I think the obnoxious parts are due also to the fact that it's competitive.
I've heard similarly bitter and drama-filled shit in regards to CS:GO's competitive mode.
You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
It seems I've ended up with the kind of chem professor who sends out TWELVE MASS E-MAILS before the semester has even started.

I think Jane underestimates the amount of crazy bullshit one can convince themselves to believe if given a sufficient echo chamber.

I finally got the Christmas decorations put away. Didn't take as long as I expected, either.

That reminds me
The "lol it's 2015 now" BTTF jokes got old fast
But the one that did make me laugh was somebody posting the "Save the Clock Tower" flyer from the first film alongside other flyers on a telephone pole near campus
