i did an as level in philosophy and it didnt help me at all with the theoretical side of eng lit
okay i briefly did plato and that was useful but thats all, nothing else was useful
this was prolly because it was put to a class vote what the unit we were going to do was and instead of doing philosophy of art, predictably the bunch of sixth form kids wanted to discuss 'does god exist' UGH
aaaaah I'm twenty two and I haven't made a positronic brain out of op amps and spit aaaaah what am I doing with my life *eats really unhealthy takeout* life is beautiful
youve got to be very picky and understand that to understand all of the theoretical stuff underpinning eng lit you have to go away and read like, at least, a fuckload of freud and also Being and Time and i absolutely cba
Freud obviously did but he's not exactly a philosopher
the philosophy-related people who came up were mostly continentals
did end up learning a little about Chomsky and Quine, though
Kant, Locke, Wollstonecraft, Newton, Descartes, JS Mill and Harriet Taylor Mill all came up in a non-theory context but it's not like we actually studied them

ya i was talking about literary theory -- includes psych stuff (the latest thing in teory which is "trauma theory" is very psych) actual philosophy was overwhelmingly 20th century continental philosophers, but lit loves them and they love lit, so/
i barely came acrosss anyone pre-1900 who wasnt Marx or an ancient greek or an occasional hegel though i specialise in contemporary lit so that may be why.
did inadvertantly lead me into reading about history of maths stuff which was kind of interesting, but i never did wrap my head around Lacan himself and what he was trying to say
I don't think anyone has ever said their gender is mayonnaise on Tumblr or anything like that, and meant it seriously. They may have said it to joke about or mock gender. Someone may have said something like that to troll, too.
What people have done is invent ridiculous personal pronoun sets and it's enti possible that someone has used mayoself pronouns on Tumblr. It would not be any sillier than ones I've see people use in apparent seriousness.
However, such do not seem to represent gender. A bunself does not think their gender is bunny.
It is, though, bullshit to accuse someone who won't use your precious neo pronouns of "mis gendering" you. You are not encoding gender with those.

It's the fault of the language, really, for not having a gender-neutral singular pronoun that you can apply to human beings.
Some of the invented pronouns are more sensible than others, but the lack of consensus means people invent more and more. Personally i think singular they works, but i'll concede there is potential for confusion there.
People who invent personal pronouns and expect to be taken seriously are a very small group that is presented as representative of all of tumblr because it fits a narrative.
Namely that all of these "SJWs" are just stupid kids and will eventually grow into hardened, conservative, productive members of society like everyone else, or they will kill themselves, which is of course a good thing in this world view.

There's also the contradicting narrative that SJWs are a dangerous cabal of lesbian radfems, black nationalists, nonbinary post-heteronormative transpronoun queerfuck cishaters and (for some reason) otherkin, who if left unchecked will tear down civilization in the name of equality and ruin video games and the internet and then no nerdboys will be able to get a date ever again
