You can also just use esper's webchat client, which is in browser and available here: http://esper.net/publicirc.php

It's pretty easy to use. Just type in the name you'd like to use there and then type in #trashheap for the channel.

It's good if you'd like to get a feel for IRC before downloading a desktop client or anything like that.

You'd think that an update that is apparently this important would be super easy to find, right?

Nope, I can find the updater for Chrome and Internet Explorer, and the Desktop updater, but not the one for Firefox.
