  • The modern viking man? What'd he do?

Well he stabbed a friend/bandmate of his in the face over 10 times (this was fatal obvs.), he's racist, anti-semitic and all that good stuff, and he hasn't released good music in like for freaking ever.

Observe, the page for Taylor Swift,

in which it seemingly places the onus of the Madonna/Whore complex and the idea that virginity is super important for girls entirely on her rather than assuming the more likely option, that she's just not a good songwriter and defaults to old tropes. Granted, this may seem like the same point but the wording makes it clear the person hasn't thought it through very far.

Also it calls her a fake geek girl.

    So, basically...

The content of Your Fave Is Problematic is highly problematic?
I predict all things in their truest form.

DIdn't the guy from Led Zepplin kidnap a teenager or something?

Like Rob McElhenney is no one's "fave," for one thing, and also

have you ever seen It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

for one thing, even the utterly contemptible main characters realize how horrible it is that the guy wore blackface

Sorry. The concept behind it and its popularity really, really bother me.

@Yarrun: He was a Nazi for a while, and is still a kooky anti-Semitic conspiracy theorist, if a non-violent one.

Also allegedly burned several churches in Norway and murdered a dude.

    Edit: Aaaaaaaaaaand Ninja'd.

I wasn't even thinking of the Euronymous murder, but yeah, that's... a thing, isn't it.

How do you allegedly burn several churches?

How does one even get away with that?

Like, I mean, that's... the guy could basically get away with murder.

EDIT:  OH WAIT, he did get away with murder.  Eugh.

Vikernes went to jail for something like fifteen years. He just kept making albums in prison, because Sweden takes the whole rehabilitation thing very seriously.

Yeah, Jimmy Page did kidnap a teenager, so yeah, he's sketchy as all get out.

The chruches were burned, but it's not quite certain he was the one who committed the arson, IIRC.

Either way, he went to jail for the murder and the arsons.

    Yeah, but, still.

    Who burns a church?
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
Neo-pagan extremists who see churches built on former pagan temples as an affront to their ancestral beliefs.
  • Suddenly I got really irritated about a lot of things
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
the guy from Led Zeppelin (Jimmy Page) did have...uh...a relationship with an underage girl

  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
Sometimes I feel guilty about Quick Draw McGraw because of Baba Looey, though the only legit problematic thing I can think of is his faux-Spanish swearing which he doesn't do very often

also some Native American stereotypes that show up from time to time
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
I think it's the general consensus that being a good or great artist does not render you immune to being a creeper or doing really lousy, horrible things.

things Led Zeppelin are good for:
    • sampling
    • ???
    • idk I guess records make good coasters
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
    I'm gonna pretend I didn't read that.

    Pretend real hard.
  • My dreams exceed my real life
tbf it's hard to defend any band when pedophilia just got brought up
  • also Led Zeppelin were themselves highly derivative of other acts (mostly black blues musicians).

even if you're a huge classic rock fan there are better bands.

    Derivative, certainly. So is everybody.

But I can think of very few bands I would even consider near their level.

    Zeppelin rules, yo!

I never really liked to listen to Zeppelin.

THen again, I didn't like Metallica, Pink Floyd, or any of that stuff.
  • My dreams exceed my real life
I like Led Zeppelin III and IV
  • I actually like Pink Floyd a good deal.

Metallica exist, I don't think I've ever listened to their music at length.
  • My dreams exceed my real life
Metallica has some good songs, but they seem like dicks so I haven't checked out their albums.

    Pink Floyd are pretty good.
  • My dreams exceed my real life
Also Pink Floyd are generally much less heavy than LZ or Metallica
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
Pink Floyd are one of the few I would consider on Zeppelin's level, although in a different way.

Metallica are dicks but their early albums almost justify them being so.
  • We can do anything if we do it together.
Led Zeppelin aren't one of my favourite bands, but I and IV are pretty good albums.
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”

also Led Zeppelin were themselves highly derivative of other acts (mostly black blues musicians).

even if you're a huge classic rock fan there are better bands.

I find that a somewhat unconvincing argument. Their later stuff is surely progressively less interesting, and occasionally execrable, but by the same token they used their influences as a springboard rather than a crutch and went some fairly interesting places with them.

Also, "classic rock" is a ridiculously vague term.

I have never been impressed by any of Led Zeppelin's music I've heard.

Whether that's them being overly derivative or later bands being overly derivative of them is hard for me to say as somebody who's largely outside that context, but I certainly don't care for Zeppelin as anything other than materials (the Levee Break is famous, of course).

    I'm sorry, I don't really mean it.

Anyway, I like some bands that are in vaguely similar genres, and even a couple "classic rock" bands too (The Doors for instance), I am not as resoundingly anti-guitar as I sometimes say I am, just mostly so.
