like idk why you care about the public opinion of a public that doesn't exist, you have unlimited power
you could literally air nothing but youtube poops, the lame kind that are just "gay luigi" looped for 15 hours and you could just imagine them loving that to pieces
you can play simcity with cheats such that you don't have to worry about public opinion, but it's not quite as interesting, or at least it's a different kind of game that way.

but the thing is like this is just something that anonus is doing in his imagination
so like if the public isn't happy with what he's broadcasting, it's because he wants them to be
which seems kinda ??????
i come up with stories in my head all the time but i try to maintain some kind of psychological realism because otherwise it's kind of boring
I think this is what AU tries to do, but his obsessive tendencies means he gets a bit too invested in it.
It's fine to say "would you watch a new Rocky & Bullwinkle show?" to a couple of your friends to gauge what a hypothetical public opinion would be, but if you're up at 4 AM worrying that people won't like your imaginary Rocky & Bullwinkle cartoon, well...that's less than optimal.

Hehehe, remember that time the Angry Video Game Nerd pretended to smash two Nintendo World Championships cartridges?
He had to put the real cartridges and the fake ones in the same shot at the end so people wouldn't be outraged, lol

CA: ? (I know about the watch, but why the reaction?)
I had been hoping the whole "wearables" thing was a fad that was going to die within the year, but now that Apple's hopped on that particular bandwagon there's no chance of that happening

At the very least, Jobs seemed to have enough sense not to jump on a fad until Apple could bring some new gimmick to the table, rather than just saying "let's do what everyone else is doing 'cause we know people will buy it anyway because Apple"

The thing about Jobs is that he was always planning more advanced stuff long before it actually became feasible. He had been working up to the creation of the iPad for something like a decade before it came out, using various earlier products as testing grounds for what he would put into it. He also was very interested in aesthetically pleasing and user-friendly interface design and very much against making products that were designed to fail after a certain point.
Not to say that he was the most pleasant of human beings day-to-day, but it seems like without him the company is going in some really questionable directions.

That seems a universal constant with Apple, doesn't it? He was forced out in 1985, and while the Mac did well for a while (and we got some truly innovative stuff like the early PowerBooks), we also got utter crap like the Mac Portable, the Mac Classic and practically the entire Performa line.
Also, it seems like 1985-1996 Apple was so afraid of killing its cash-cow, high-end Macs that it was willing to steamroll viable low-end options like the IIgs and the Newton, simply because it didn't know how to market them separately, or market them as a package, despite all those things being technically possible.
This would be kind of like Apple passing on the iPhone because it might have cut into Mac mini sales. You know, since they're clearly the same thing. :P

Yeah, post-Jobs-pre-Jobs Apple was kinda dumb, even more so than post-Jobs-post-Jobs Apple
If you look at the history of budget Macs, you can tell that Apple was never happy about doing it; I presume they were forced into it by education buyers working with slashed budgets, and by the Classic's cool factor (apparently it did well in Japan).
Even in 1990, schools were considering skipping Apple's offerings and going to PC/AT clones, since the Apple II's future had been in doubt ever since Jobs was forced out, and Macs were an entirely different (and far more expensive) platform. It also helped that IBM was more than willing to donate PS/2s, especially in IBM towns like Manassas, VA. The LC was Apple's olive branch to the schools; you could get an add-on card for it that could run old IIe apps and games (though it wasn't IIgs-compatible).
Also, I feel like it might still be a little too early to say that Apple's losing its way post-Jobs post-Jobs. It was only last year that the company started to really work on anything new without Steve's input, and if the rumor mill is to be believed, the old man still had a few tricks up his turtleneck-- and the watch may have very well been one of them that only really got into the wild because of the concept's recent popularity surge.
We still haven't gotten any clues to the legitimacy of the iTV, for one...
