I feel like my educational experience thus far has been a waste
I've been in college FIVE YEARS and I'm still working on undergrad shit -_-

I mean I have an associate's degree but that didn't really do anything for me

I don't get it
As a kid, I was the Matilda
I was the smart one, I was the kid who skipped first and eighth grades
So how is it that I devolved into an underachiever

When I was 11 I attended a summer camp for gifted and talented students
This camp was held on the campus of a nearby university
And I fell in love with the concept of universities, of college campuses, and all the fun they had to offer
And now I've finally achieved that but it feels like a dead end
I don't really know where I want to go from here...I worry I'll be one of those people who either (a) stays in college for the rest of their life for no real reason or (b) someone who peaked in college and has to take some crappy day job because their degree didn't help them get a good career

I was gonna say something else but then I got distracted by a stop sign and I lost my train of thought

Yes I keep Christmas lights in my bedroom all year round

I'm a bit late to this conversation, but keep in mind that I'm one of your best friends, and I'm taking five years to complete a three-year course at my community college.
There's no shame in taking more time than absolutely necessary in your academic studies if you need to.

Oh god I'm sounding like Miko and her shmups, aren't I

One year Dad went out on December 26th and bought a bunch of Christmas lights on clearance
Then Mom decided she didn't like them and she refused to use them for decoration the next year
So I put them in my bedroom instead--being a basement, having that extra little bit of lighting can be quite nice

Well, it's nice to know I'm not alone, at the very least.
Oh god I'm sounding like Miko and her shmups, aren't I
kinda?
you're obsessing over a negative thing despite it not really being all that negative
so it sounds more like intrusive negative thoughts than an obsession
Makes sense, I suppose
It's just for a moment my mind kinda went to "if I can't do difficult thing perfectly, that means I'm not good enough, not that thing is too difficult"

I think she meant w/ regard to the stop signs
and no, because you're not acting like everyone who doesn't absolutely adore stop signs is clearly some kind of idiot who just doesn't understand the complexities of stop signs, and you don't scour the internet for people saying negative things about stop signs and then whine about it here.
That's the thing, though, in K-12 I didn't have to study or try
And now I do
So that means I'm not really smart, doesn't it? It just means my K-12 curriculum was too easy...
Nonono, you're missing the point. The point is that, to some extent, EVERYONE has to study or try.
Paul Dirac, Nobel Prize winner in physics of 1933, was an exceptionally bright child. But the only reason he became one of the founding fathers of quantum mechanics is because he spent an absurd amount of time studying physics and the works of the great physicists of his age. He didn't just wake up one day and suddenly discover the Positron.
Legend of Korra, ladies and gentleman! Whether it's annoying kids, gross simplification of religion, or love subplots cut from rejected Harlequin novels, it has something for everyone to hate!
I want to try watching Legend of Korra, especially since I loved the original Avatar, but I'm afraid to step into the shitstorm that seems to surround it everywhere it goes.
Establish yourself as their king by right of age, and have them make you mild cocktails as they ferry you to your classes that you've cleverly avoided buying textbooks for

TIL I learned I've been in college longer than Tzetze
That shouldn't surprise me, since I'm older than him, but it amuses me for some reason
