I watched the first episode and yeah, I don't want to watch any more.

I cannot stand that little airbender boy.
  • it's weird seeing how much Korra divides people

like a good chunk of the people i follow on tumblr either love it or think it's the worst thing in the universe
  • I thought it was OK but not OK enough to watch more of.

When I was 11 I attended a summer camp for gifted and talented students

This camp was held on the campus of a nearby university

And I fell in love with the concept of universities, of college campuses, and all the fun they had to offer

And now I've finally achieved that but it feels like a dead end

I don't really know where I want to go from here...I worry I'll be one of those people who either (a) stays in college for the rest of their life for no real reason or (b) someone who peaked in college and has to take some crappy day job because their degree didn't help them get a good career

    Well, there's that

    I went half-time for a long time in 2012-13

And I took a couple semesters off when I was having, er, mental health issues

Dude, that's such a common complex

I know a bunch of people who were the smart kid in school, so they decided they didn't have to study or try

And it bit them in the ass because being "smart", while helpful, doesn't mean a damn if you don't actually do the work

So that means I'm not really smart, doesn't it? It just means my K-12 curriculum was too easy...

my family has had christmas lights all year round off and on through the years

because my mom hates overhead lights

I'm a bit late to this conversation, but keep in mind that I'm one of your best friends, and I'm taking five years to complete a three-year course at my community college.

There's no shame in taking more time than absolutely necessary in your academic studies if you need to.

you're obsessing over a negative thing despite it not really being all that negative

so it sounds more like intrusive negative thoughts than an obsession

One year Dad went out on December 26th and bought a bunch of Christmas lights on clearance

Then Mom decided she didn't like them and she refused to use them for decoration the next year

So I put them in my bedroom instead--being a basement, having that extra little bit of lighting can be quite nice

He ordered it straight from the manufacturer

I actually kept the packing slip so I have proof I own it if I'm ever accused of stealing it or something >_>

    Makes sense, I suppose

It's just for a moment my mind kinda went to "if I can't do difficult thing perfectly, that means I'm not good enough, not that thing is too difficult"

I think she meant w/ regard to the stop signs

and no, because you're not acting like everyone who doesn't absolutely adore stop signs is clearly some kind of idiot who just doesn't understand the complexities of stop signs, and you don't scour the internet for people saying negative things about stop signs and then whine about it here.

Nonono, you're missing the point. The point is that, to some extent, EVERYONE has to study or try.

Paul Dirac, Nobel Prize winner in physics of 1933, was an exceptionally bright child. But the only reason he became one of the founding fathers of quantum mechanics is because he spent an absurd amount of time studying physics and the works of the great physicists of his age. He didn't just wake up one day and suddenly discover the Positron.
  • Not a hybrid rabbit-skink spirit
And I would use a more well known example, but Paul Dirac is the guy I'm currently writing a paper on, so that's who yer gettin'.

  • Legend of Korra, ladies and gentleman! Whether it's annoying kids, gross simplification of religion, or love subplots cut from rejected Harlequin novels, it has something for everyone to hate!

I want to try watching Legend of Korra, especially since I loved the original Avatar, but I'm afraid to step into the shitstorm that seems to surround it everywhere it goes.

That shouldn't surprise me, since I'm older than him, but it amuses me for some reason
