  • They might have to pay some kind of other tax that is effectively the same as or similar to an income tax but is not called that.

Sort of like what Delaware does in some places where despite lacking a sales tax some places will still charge a "service tax".
  • i am further convinced that i should never ever under any circumstances move to another state
  • Sup bitches, witches, Haters, and trolls.
federal income tax also still exists and withholding is weird wrt that
  • I have no issues with taxes- even high ones- conceptually. I just would really, really like it if they weren't maddeningly complex and byzantine.

    “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
You are also forgetting that even when federal or state income taxes do not apply to you, payroll taxes may still apply. Which is outrageous bullshit, particularly given that things like capital gains are taxed at a lower rate on average, but there you go. AMERICA.
  • UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGH

Welp, that means another two weeks of having money burning a hole in my pocket. Dammit. I'm going to bed.

you could move to washington, which has the highest minimum wage in the country

    anyway hacking the gibson

Maybe Centie was right when she said that Canada's strictly better than America.

pretty sure canada has its own provincial bullshit
  • Canada has an enormous underreported Native American murder problem in...Alberta, I think.

Which is not to say that it maybe isn't a better place to live, certainly people die in the US for stupid reasons all the time, just saying, it's something to think about.
  • are there reasons to die that aren't ultimately pretty stupid

    today has been pretty weird

like, i got up, i ate breakfast, went to the drug test place, took the test, then i walked for 4-5 hours?
  • Perhaps not, but some are much less stupid than others.

also northern BC, and probably other places

Self-sacrifice kinds of death usually aren't too stupid

But those kinds of death don't really come up in modern day society
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
Violent crimes tend to be under-reported in Native American communities in the USA as well, for a number of reasons including but not limited to problems of jurisdiction and the mistrust of outsiders for reasons good and bad. It just goes to show that we're really not so different.

Although if we're talking about racist types murdering First Nations and the like, that is a different issue...
  • Ugh. See, this would all suck less if having money even made me feel good. But it doesn't. Even with my kinda crappy paycheck I still do have 390 dollars, which is more money than I've ever had at once. But I don't feel accomplished or satisfied or anything. I'm only happy with money when I don't have consistent access to it.

Maybe it's just my bad mood right now, but I've had this problem lately where, like, I don't really get excited about possibilities of the future. Like, come on, 390 dollars! I could buy a ton of games and movies and shows that I've wanted to watch! I've been wanting a job for years! But I don't even really care. It blows.

nah dude, put that shit in a savings account. that sweet, sweet 0.05% interest

    we have similar problems here.

Hopefully it'll pass. I wish I could give you better advice.

Then wait until you feel better and buy some stuff that you've always wanted.

buying stuff does not make one happy

...well, it doesn't make me happy
  • i have to save my money to visit my beau!

    but saving money is hard.

I'm not saying that it does. I'm just telling him that if he can do something that would make him happy with that money, then he should feel free to do so.

    ^ Yes...

  • Suddenly I thought of the fact that I'd like to cosplay this guy
    image
and that put me in a better mood, somehow
question, though: What kind of shorts would you say those are? Also, I've been told the best way to get the white jacket is to just cut the sleeves off a hoodie, but is that really necessary? Are there actually hooded jackets with no sleeves?
  • those are capris, not shorts

there is such thing as a sleeveless hoodie, but it's not gonna be significantly cheaper than one with sleeves and it might be harder to find if you're not willing to order online

the hardest thing to get would be the tech blue gilet/insulated vest, simply because it'd be rather expensive

as for the sneakers, they look to be modeled after the Saucony Jazz
  • Oh, it wasn't price I was worried about (a white hoodie would run me ten dollars, tops; I could easily find one at Goodwill). I was just trying to maintain authenticity.

    Thanks for your help!
  • probably the hardest thing to find would be the capris because they are rarely worn by men in the US

so I'm listening to Raditude by Weezer

I was fully expecting to hate it given how poor the reception was, but it's not... bad? like at all?

it's no Pinkerton so far but I'm liking how clean it feels, I myself wouldn't mind if I were involved in a band that sounded like it

the cover art is still really bad, though
  • image

    dumbest cover art ever

okay, I take it back, the Weezer/Lil Wayne collab track is pretty bad
  • That guy is still my mental image of you btw

I like to think I have a similar-ish face and hair to him.
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
    I like that cover.
  • I'm more partial to their self-titled covers and Pinkerton.

And Hurley, but it's impossible not to like that album's cover
  • We can do anything if we do it together.
    This album cover is better:

They say a man should always dress for the job he wants
So why am I dressed like a pirate in this restaurant?
It's all because some hacker stole my identity
Now I'm in here every evening serving chowder and iced tea,
    should've gone to freecreditreport.com
I could've seen this coming at me like an atom bomb
They monitor your credit and send you e-mail alerts
