  • Idea #1: A zombie horror comedy following a group of siblings, all in their early 20's to early 30's, as they survive the apocalypse the only way they know how: smashing shit

Idea #2: A girl enjoys starting fires and watching things burn because it is theraputic. She moves onto burning houses to get her kicks, and is so out of it that she doesn't realise that she is murdering people in the process of burning the houses.

I vote idea number two by a hair.
  • both sound cool

I'd go for no. 1 but that's just me

Bleh, done more character ideas with #1, but have more of a plot with #2.

Why can't I merge the two together...
  • ...And even when your hope is gone
move along, move along, just to make it through

Could she become the big end monster the siblings face or something?
  • Have the girl from #2 as a character in #1, and have a chapter explaining her backstory, the plot to #2.

    Genius.

I'm reading about romantic advice on howstuffworks (of all places), and a lot of it just seems off. Aside from it being strongly heteronormative, the love quiz in particular seems to delight in cutting your friends out of people's lives once they have an SO.

That's how teenagers approach love, not adults, or so I've found.

Even so, my best friend's in a relationship now and we keep regular contact, so it really depends.

    (We're both seventeen)

    THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS
Well, I actually worded that badly; it's assuming that when you have an SO, your friends are no longer as important, which is not only not true, it can be a sign of abuse.

And then, in an other article, they say that long-distance relationships are always dangerous because...well, it's not worded this way, but the implication is that if you're not getting any, it's time to move on. I've never liked that mindset...you can love someone without having to have sex with them all the time, and there's a strong implication that most relationships don't last beyond the dating stage, which just strikes me as bizarre because I'm still close to a lot of my friends (even the ones I had crushes on).

Either I'm just very forgiving, or there's a social fallacy I'm running afoul of...
  • got my ACTs back, composite score 32

iunno what i got on math (mom told me the scores over the phone), but apparently i got a 36 in reading!

    (*similar score high-five*)

tons, but the only windows one (Forgery) doesn't seem to exist as a full program, I downloaded it and it's a folder full of Python .exes that don't open correctly.

This might be a Captain Obvious thing, but do you have an appropriate version of Python installed?
  • I honestly have no idea how I'd know if I did or not.

    Resurgam.
  • I got a 30 on the ACT.

I swear there's some sort of power creep going on because 90% of the people I've asked got a higher score than me.

    I wish I could be proud because a 30 is apparently quite good but I can't ._.
  • Okay, important question: How can I have my paycheck whittled down to the equivalent of four and a half dollars an hour in a state with no income tax? Is that okay? Is that possible?
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”

Sredni, are you familiar with the concept of "Tennessee," "public schools," and "public schools in Tennessee?"

You people are gonna make me go and take the ACT just so I can join in on the dick-measuring contest, aren't you
  • Grah, can we please focus on the important issue of WHAT THE HELL, MINIMUM WAGE JOB
  • It's frustrating because I was really getting my hopes up about being able to get a new computer. And by "getting my hopes up" I meant "hoping the deductions from my paycheck would be something reasonable, like only a fourth or a fifth."
  • I'm sorry; I'm being self-centered.

celarly i should pull out my old sat scores so we can have a sat dickwaving contest instead
  • No, I feel you. My paychecks so far have been respectively $39 and $70, it's nonsense.

Honestly, I don't really have anything worthwhile to say about it because I'm not familiar with Tennessee's taxes or labor laws.

I agree that getting paid less than you were expecting totally sucks, though.
  • Neither do I, but I was under the distinct impression that not having income tax would do wonders for my paycheck or at least prevent me from having it deducted by a third.

But you don't talk to the dumber people at your school, now, do you?

And either way, test-taking is no perfect measure of intellect. It is good for gauging how capable you are of demonstrating the skills being measured in the context presented, and how prepared you were to do so. This is not the same as real life, or even general academics.
