You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022

Look at this ridiculous crap. THIS was chosen over
Context:
For most of the history of Runescape "combat level," a general (and mostly arbitrary) assessment of combat prowess was derived by a very convoluted, obtuse formula that was hidden from the players and could range from 3 to 138. Following a overhaul of the combat mechanics, the formula was made much more transparent: The player's highest combat skill, plus their defense level, plus two. Reaction was mostly negative, because freaking Runescape players, man, and following this years stated purpose of listening to the players more, the company that makes Runescape decided to go back to the old convoluted ridiculous formula in spite of it being immensely worse than the new one.
Also its origin isn't Ultima or anything like that; it's based on old text adventure games; that's why the inventory system is set up the way it is (like how each item has a set of options associated with it like "drop," "equip," "rub," "use.").

are you sure that's not something it inherited from old Roguelikes? That sounds NetHacky to me.
I actually wish I were good at adventure games (in the "point and click" or "text-based" sense), maybe I'd appreciate the Submachine series a little more.

Adventure game logic, you have a key and a locked door. Use the key to distract the baby of the Burly guard to swipe his bayonet to scare the hound that frightens the elephant that knocks over the jar of acid.
Also, I will fully acknowledge that Wind Waker is a great-looking game
why the hell were people upset with it
Because change.
Of course, it's not just the aesthetic that makes it great; traversing the ocean in that game is incredible even if it does get a bit dull at times, the combat is some of the best in the series (mainly because you don't have to wait for most enemies to expose their weak points, also each hit is punctuated with a musical cue which is very nice), and the story is also one of Zelda's best.

You get the Bunny effect near there. From a strange rabbitlike creature that has had its eyes removed.
Because again, Yume 2kki.
dotFlow is more spooky.
