Porcupine wasnt all super-smart like Iron man. He was just an automotive mechanic with a master's degree in engineering and a willingness to spend months on a projwct . I like that sense that random everyday people can be supervillains, that the "muggles" of the world can do stuff like this. I mean, "muggles" invented automobiles, bicycles, airplanes.
It's like " normal people without superpowers who find it in themselves to follow the path of heroism/firefighters/good-policemen are the real heroes" except inverted so that random everyday people are the real supervillains.
I'm overanalyzing, but I like that you don't have to be a billionaire genius to make a supersuit.
Well, you still have to be smart and know what you're doing. But you don't have to be a super-rich polymath with unlimited resources and boatloads of charisma. You just have to be dedicated and willing to really put all of your mind and will into what you're doing.

Man, I kept a lot of...clutter on my home screen in 2012.
my America in Vicky 2 is looking significantly worse in shape than the equivalent in our own timeline.
Lewis Cass just lost a 3 year long war against Spain for the Islands of Cuba and Puerto Rico. He was reelected, presumably due simply to the lack of strong opposition.

That still doesn't change the fact that the governments are going to laugh in his face once he asks them to recognize his kingdom, though.
the main problem with his plan is simply that no one lives there. Not even him.
Although it does raise an interesting question in my mind. Namely, if aquatic construction ever becomes viable and inexpensive on a large scale, how will the UN handle wealthy people declaring statehood on tiny manmade floating cities all the time?

There was this one game (well, it was more like a website that had a simulator on it, but I treated it like a game) that I discovered, like, 8 or 9 years ago, where you could just found your own dang country. And there'd be political issues that you'd have to make decisions about every dang day.
I'll try and find it for you Centie, and for the lot of you who like gov simulators.

Truly neat stuff, the campaign starts with the original Crusader Kings, which is set in the middle ages, and continues up until 1965.
Currently it's the mid 1800s and the world looks like this
