I can't actually think of a piece of visual horror media that doesn't use jump scares at least once. I mean, even Silent Hill, a series known for its psychological horror approach, uses them from time to time.

You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
You know, I kinda feel like the final battle between Anakin and Obi-Wan in Revenge of the Sith sums up everything that's wrong with the prequels.
We already know what the outcome will be going into it--Obi-Wan will "win" but let Anakin live because he's an idiot--so any semblance of actual tension is completely lost. So instead, the filmmakers try to keep you engaged with this over-the-top fight choreography and visual effects, and yeah, it's just kinda lame.

So, the geek social fallacies. I think it's a rather simplistic list, and reads rather like something written for employee relationships. Sort of seven-habits like.
For example, the one of "friendship before all / loyalty". If you only have one redeeming trait, loyalty is a pretty awesome one. Sacrificing work and worldly success for friendship? Interestingly, the description implies that Romantic love is an acceptable thing to sacrifice work and worldly success for, but not Platonic. I agree that loyalty without any other functional or good qualities is not the way to be a functional or happy person, but that could be said of any trait. Why loyalty was picked instead of any other virtue eludes me.
I guess in a work environment, a bunch of synergizing coworkers who care about one another but not enough to jeopardize their career or position on the ladder of bureaucracy is what is desired. Not stuff like strong loyalty or a Watterson-esque unwillingness to compromise on the things you are irrational about.
As for the "Friends don't criticize friends" one, it just came off as "you can't get upset if I criticize you.". A real friend will support you and also stop you when you're about to do something terrible or stupid. A real friend will accept that you and he/she disagree. You can have different values and thing that your friend is crazy to think the way he/she does, but when it's important, you'll find it in yourself to stand up to your friend. You stand up for your friend, but also sometimes to your friend.
I just think the author of that list doesnt realize how valid and genuinely helping-become-an-awesome-person friendship can be. Sometimes, it's worth putting up with stuff that bugs you.
Color Pie Question! In the past you talked about Capitalism being black. Can it be green because it is about the natural market order and growth of the capital?
Capitalism can be green too, in the sense of the nasty-brutish-and-short state-of-nature sort of unregulated unfettered moneymaking desire that some people like to see.

this view of nature is, thankfully, wrong. crap like sears' CEO is no real reflection of living organisms

I love how everyone who played The Sims 1 seemed to eventually came to that realization that you don't really need a house and you can easily just buy an empty lot and fill it with a bunch of cool stuff.

Also, I learned that First Strike only works on the very first blocker, which means First Strike is worthless.

Tried thirty four times with Slivers, failed thirty times.
Tried one time with Avacyn, beat him one time with Avacyn.
Then, my next game, I beat Girundar and took no damage with Garruk.
