If I did a Heaper movie night, where I stream various media stuffs, and we chat about them, would anybody come?
Yeah.
Me, too.
Just probably not for the next few days...
Maybe I will show something late next Wednesday.
What would people like to watch?
Dunno. I could show "The Last Man on Earth" or "Rashamon", since both of those were still on youtube, last time I checked.
As an aside, what site are you planning on using? I already have a synchtube/cytube channel that we use for anime nights, so if you want to use that room, I can send you the link really easy.
I was going to find a video through one means or another, and then stream it via some screencapturing software or another. Youtube has some good stuff, but I doubt it has all the obscure anime, shlock horror, forgotten classics, and remake of The Holy Mountain using found footage of dogs that I was interested in streaming.
You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
"Harry slammed his book shut. It wasn't really a book, because the pages were made of lasers and the words were made of headless women making godless love to dragons made out of motorcycles, but it was still reading."~thirty Hs

You didn't know me back in 2011. I was the crazy one back in the day.
Honestly, the whole culture of Silicon Valley seems really immature, how exclusive it is, how people in companies expect you to learn the rules and conform to their standards without them telling you the rules and standards or even that there are any. At, say a law firm, you know that there are going to be expectations on professionalism and dress code, and you can relatively easily figure out what they are. But in SV, these tech companies and start-ups profess, or at least act like, that professionalism and dress code do not really matter, yet at the same time they create their own versions of the same things, but these are much harder to figure out. It's kind of like they are throwing a potential hiree into a game, not telling him the rules, and then telling him that he's not playing a game at all.
The whole part about not hiring somebody based on the fact they had a suit on highlights their kind of really childish ageism. Instead of looking down on somebody because they are younger or appear to be younger, they look down on people because they appear to be older or simply wear clothing that's associated with adults. It really does remind me of 6th graders on the playground, setting stupid, selfish, and immature rules about who can be their friends and then not telling anybody about these rules.
kind of reminds me of academia, though it's not quite as bad
my favorite SV hiring story was hearing some company hired actors to play pool in their offices to make prospective hires think things were fun
my department just removed the ping-pong and foosball tables from the grad lounge between the grad student open house and my arrival for unrelated reasons

"Mashers" and insulters of women ought not to be tolerated in this town, and any kind of efficient police force could break it up. PA1907

^Exactly, not everyone can be as cool as you, but many can be cooler than you. Your coolness has never been equalled, though often surpassed.
