Here's something CA might find interesting.
Yesterday, at the intersection near the bus station I go to from school, there was construction blocking the crosswalks. Today, I got to see what it was for. They have new talking walk signals that tell you what street is clear for crossing and count down for you. I think you've seen them a lot before, but this is the first time I've ever seen one in person. Then again, I haven't been downtown in a while, so they could be commonplace there already.
You know what is just as "creepy" as the "creepy" things on tvt? The fact that there is a group of people on the internet that are fixated on voyeuristically stalking the every move of an internet community that they have nothing to do with so they can make fun of the people who are in it, and continue to do so over an extended period of time. :p

The SA thread's still going actually. The main problem with it at the moment that it's mostly pretty banal, and/or it's stretching a lot--like, interpreting the title of "scenery gorn" to assume that people are literally getting off on pictures of natural disasters.
Although, not that it's not weird, but it's still a false equivalence to say "let's read this other forum for laughs" is on par with "we should kill everyone in China because they're letting themselves be oppressed by the government."

I've heard about those talking signals but never seen them in person...most parts of my city are just now starting to get the signals with the countdown timer. The few intersections we have with any kind of audible signal just beep when the walk sign is on.

^^Yeah, that's probably it now that I think about it. But they also have a light above the push button that turns on to tell you that it got your request, basically.
The one problem I can potentially see with it is that people with less patience might get annoyed by the fact that it says "WAIT" every 10 or so seconds during a red light. But I'm amazed that this crosswalk has gone from the worst on my walking route to the best in under 2 months.

If I hadn't had TVT I wouldn't have found Anonus, so I definitely count it as a net positive experience.
