Which is fine, except for the movie title

Woman, you can't even BEGIN to know the meaning of "tangled"
  • honestly i might ask for a macbook air

like, that's gotta last a while, right? it's aluminum, it doesn't feel cheap...

but like i've never found a laptop review site that talks about long term performance and build quality so who knows :/

More people have said that and been killed than there are thorium decay products.
    (oopsies, i deleted it ^_^ )

Long term performance seems like it'd be something that would be difficult to properly cover in a review anyway, because reviews generally tend to be written shortly after you've acquired something...
  • yeah

    but still

if something costs multiple benjies it should last a good long while, y'know?

I knew you'd appreciate that post, Yarrun
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”

You know what I always found strange? People have a tendency to treat a camera as if it's a person.

For example, I've seen YouTube videos that were obviously filmed from right alongside an active railroad track as a train passes by...and people in the comments reprimand the uploader for standing in an unsafe location.

The idea that maybe he set up a camera and stepped back never seemed to occur to them.
But he was taking a photo of himself in a very unsafe location. He was being stupid and he could have died because he wanted to take a fucking selfie or something right at that instant.

And yes, I know exactly what GIF you are referring to.
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.

for the record, I was thinking of this:

it's rather obviously shot with a zoom lens, so there's a good chance the cameraman isn't as close to the track as you'd think at first glance

actually i gotta give it credit, it still runs just as well as when it was new

    it just

    disintegrated
  • I keep looking at Nanner's computer and going 'from what I know about computer maintenance, I should be able to fix this with some duct tape and nothing else. and yet I caaaaaan't'
  • I keep looking at Nanner's computer and going 'from what I know about computer maintenance, I should be able to fix this with some duct tape and nothing else. and yet I caaaaaan't'

i've tried that, but the thing is the metal parts don't have anything holding them onto the screen half anymore, and they offer a fair amount of resistance, so they just pull duct tape off when trying to close the thing
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”

The funny thing is that I can't even use the pick because of the recent haircut. I have to go back to using combs like the transient people.

I have used a pick before. I don't really have full-on curly hair, but it's... thick and troublesome. I am fond of it, even proud, but it can be a thing. I liked using it. Very direct. I can imagine that it would be very useful if my hair were even more dense.

I feel bad for people who feel like they have to change their hair texture through treatments or whatever to be desirable or because it's too hard to take care of. Your hair is a part of you. Changing it in that way because of outside forces seems like a really horrible thing to go through.
  • is Gianpoli a sensical name for an Italian city

I want to name the capitol of my colony after the king, whose name is Gian Galeazzo Pietromarchi.

It seems to be a relatively rare surname already, but I'm not sure if it follows that there is a town.

Although Pietromarchia would make more sense.
it's named after the king's first name, in the same vein as like a Jamestown or something.

in any case I cannot change it now, as the city and attached province have passed into a colonial nation I only control indirectly.
  • i gave up on combing or brushing my hair a while back

gotta say it's better this way
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
When it's short I can just brush it a little or even just run my fingers through it a few times. But when it is long, the comb and the brush come out...
  • I need to come up with a good Italian name for the colonial nation I'm eventually going to have in southern Africa.

West Africa I just kind of cheated and called it The Gold Coast (the game is English-localized) but for the southern part of the continent there are no easy answers that spring to mind.

also I'm gonna be a douchebag and conquer the Inca.
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
    The Horn.

    Seems logical.
  • image

I just realized I made it Gianapoli instead of Gianpoli.

    FUCK.

    The Horn.

    Seems logical.
    is it?

See, I'd go the extra ghetto-and-also-white-trash way of "fixing" it by fashioning some kind of stand to hold the display half of the laptop up.

It would basically turn it into a shitty desktop PC, but at least it'd be usable??

    You're a good man, Sredni.

It's nice, as long as you don't do something stupid like, say, try to pick out your hair after three or four days of not taking a bath. That just leads to pain.

    I can attest to this

The only real reason to wash curly hair is because it's less painful to work with it when it's wet, you know?

    ok, yeah, there's that
  • A testimony
    from the dimension of regret.
    This voice comes
from the second right after the disaster
when all there is left to say
    in a distressed whisper is
    It is too late.
The irreparable has been carved in stone
and those made accountable for it are you.
Standing, shivering in cold dim light
waiting for the sentence of the Holy Dead
like Adam and Eve at the end of time.

One may argue that it was flawed
    since the beginning
    that the dice were loaded
that God had it all within
    that He is the Source.
    O heavenly Father!
    pathogenic agent of contamination.
    harbringer of catastrophe,
    icon of the impending Fall:
but what difference does it make?
    Altitudines Satana
    the vertigo of Liberty
    tipped the scales.
A shadow of horror is risen.

    This will not be redeemed
no matter how sincere the genuflection
    and ardent the confession.
