Porkypine is best character, with Albert a close second. Cowbirds are worst characters.
Mahoney lay soda devotion.
aww yeah thank you for the best subject change ever
I second this subject change's greatness and automatically declare that all those who do not have something related to Pogo to contribute to please excuse themselves from the premises forthwith on pain of looks of bewilderment.
^^ Unfortunately, people who are predisposed to be awful like that tend to assume that all of their "peers" think like they do. Making jokes that come off as being at the expense of victims encourages these very unsettling assumptions.
No, I wouldn't say it makes people think sexual assault is OK, although misogynists and rapists certainly don't need the validation.
What I do think is it contributes to an unsavoury culture in which misogyny and insensitivity thrive and which can feel very oppressive at times.
of course, the jokes that end with "she was asking for it" and such are just shitty, and I do think the people who makes those jokes and believes it too should be alienated as much as possible
Don't Write, Don't Wire is my favorite arc of Pogo, but if anyone questions why I love Porkypine, I direct them to Right On The Button, which is also a good rebuttal of " Pogo possum has no personality other than being a good goody doormat and he's not allowed to get upset ".
You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
Well, I chose a hell of a time to leave for a video game store across town...

Since I've been away all day swearing over my torque wrench being misplaced doing other stuff, I haven't been around for much of this, but I will say that yeah, TGWTG (or the Nostalgia Critic and Linkara, at least) were less informed by actual crtics than by MST3k, which never tried to be anything but a comedy series. It wasn't until Todd in the Shadows and Kyle came to the site (and NChick stopped doing pure comedy not too long into her run) that TGWTG really started doing semi-serious criticism.
i'm sorry, i didn't read all of this but i just wanted to say
1. why care about all these weird crazy people on internet who want to review everything these days? i just need a few well-written, reasonbly comprehensive, neutral-tone-and-perspective reviews every time i crawl out from under my rock due to newly found interest in another apparently-randomly-selected-though-actually-specifically-picked-due-to-some-other-random-event anime series that's five to ten years out of date. that's all i need. bugger off.
I used to use an Audio-Technica microphone, but I switched after I discovered that my RB mic worked with basically every computer ever, unlike the other one
That, and I'm used to singing with the RB one more :D

I've heard that Yeti mics are generally considered the best
Smee, Maiman, Doktar, Pavelier, Button-Lee, Juan Ovyu
I'm watching the original French rips of TDKR and the hothead guy has a funky mustache. WTF? Did they edit it out for the English versions or something??
Give Up remains the rare classic album that has exceeded my expectations.
By whom?
whose expectations or who made the album?
in any case, it's by The Postal Service.
I meant the musicians involved.
I will check it out. But first I need to re-listen to a similarly-named LP: Giving Up the Ghost by Windsor for the Derby, a marvellously understated Texan post-rock outfit who you should totally check out.
Young Team is a really good LP, methinks. Very atmospheric and dynamic. What rock music in general should be more like... but for the fact that the formula has been so watered down and repeated by technically decent but unimaginative others...
I don't get it, why do you guys talk about genres other than Visual Kei.
I mean, there is, perhaps, only one medium of art that matches the excellence of videogames and that is (obviously) visual kei. Combining absolutely exquisite j-rock and j-pop, sprinkled with hints of videogame melodies, with the pyrotechnic visual flare that the Japanese are known for, visual kei takes its viewers on a rollercoaster ride of lights, fanfare, and music that even Beethoven could tap his toes to. Would that I were Japanese, (though under careful scrutiny, it appears my geneology tree does in fact show signs of a Japanese presence) I too would participate in this art of the 21st century and even perhaps venture onto the visual kei stage myself. It is no surprise that the impotent minds of Western society cannot fully grasp the total splendor of visual kei and instead choose to squandor their time listening to rap and country "music"

maybe I will
anyway Give Up I think is sort of considered an indie classic. The first track especially is gold

It's an interesting combo. And frankly, I never had the sort of "fuck these guys" attitude that a lot of people had towards Death Cab for Cutie despite having mixed feelings about Ben Gibbard's voice, so I'm already decently predisposed to the idea.
