I am doing this because it is annoying to see something harmless called evil in the same breath as someone calling RLM good criticism.
critics making jokes you don't like is harming everyone
on the internet
in 2014
and really, I don't care that you don't like RLM or his jokes, and you have every right to
but the least you can do is to refrain from spouting out inaccurate crap, like the rape and sexual violence stuff, which is frankly not even implicitly shown in the actual reviews
That aside, why is the conversation still happening? Some people find sarcastic pedantry for its own sake funny and others don't; some people think The Tree of Life was a bad movie* and some don't; some people care about video reviewer people bitching each other out and some don't.
*Aside: I have a friend who adores David Lynch and the like and found that film intolerably dull, so make of that what you will.
There are some things that are shitty to joke about, and make for unpleasant viewing.
it all depends on the context and intent
of course, if the joke was knowingly directly towards someone that was an actual victim, or someone close who was one, then yeah, the guy needs a serious ass-kicking
otherwise, when someone makes an unfunny joke about sensitive topics like that, I prefer to just turn the other cheek
^^^ Alright, but you can't blame other people for being bothered by it.
If you're making videos on the Internet with the expectation of a broad audience, you have a responsibility to consider the implications of what you say, even in jest.
Within nerd circles there does exist a culture that makes light of sexual assault and misogyny, and humour absolutely can feed into that.

I'm sorry your favorite internet critics are terrible people.

I'm sorry you think "making unsavory jokes" = morally evil

What do YOU think is the funniest thing about rape.
okay then, I will just say that I don't believe making jokes about such stuff automatically means that you actually endorse that people doing them is okay
Honestly, the little I've seen of RLM kind of grated on me, but never really offended me at all. It just kind of... I guess I get what he's trying to do but it just does not work for me in the least. There are interesting points being made here and there but it's just very tedious and generally unfunny.
But yes, better to talk about Japanese tech nerds buying booze.
It's amazing how I have been able to grow tired and bored of something called "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles"'s cultural influence.
Alternate universe me would not believe this.
It does sound like some kind of surreal parody of itself, doesn't it? It's like finding The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Died And Became Mixed-Up Zombies dull: The title should almost be enough.
I quite liked the first TMNT film as a kid, and I get the feeling I would still like it if I revisited it.
Otherwise, I think I'm agreed with you.
TMNT is decent when it plays it's achingly stupid premise completely straight as a mockery of how seriously comics stuff took itself when it was created, and how serious it still takes itself.
Compare the original
to the eighties cartoon which isn't even funny to five year olds.
The movie, while less po-faced than the original comic, still has some dark corners to it that help make it decent.
^^ Unfortunately, people who are predisposed to be awful like that tend to assume that all of their "peers" think like they do. Making jokes that come off as being at the expense of victims encourages these very unsettling assumptions.
But I really don't want to keep talking about this...
It is known that ZUN is a fan of music that uses FM (Frequency Modulation) Synthesis, as most of the non-MIDI music in the PC-98 games were created using FM Synthesis. He also states in a note in the Akyu's Untouched Score albums that he resents the gradual phasing out of FM Synthesis that's occurring today.

It's probably worth keeping in mind that Stan Sakai's original point with the comic was to parody the outrageously violent "anti-heroes" of the era, with the titular characters basically outright murdering The Shredder in the original one-off.

the RLM thing is mostly unrelated

Let's all laugh at rapemurder.
indisputable proof that video games are art.
oh.
-walks slowly back out of thread-
That doesn't make the jokes themselves OK.
Alternate universe me would not believe this.
Porkypine is best character, with Albert a close second. Cowbirds are worst characters.
Mahoney lay soda devotion.
